Proposed changes to update with accurate information

[edit]

CHANGE 1: Intro section Change first sentence from: Aegon UK (Aegon) is an Edinburgh based financial services provider specialising in pensions, investments and insurance. To: Aegon UK (Aegon) is a financial services provider specialising in long-term savings, investments, pension solutions and protection products.

Reference (this is an existing reference) : https://www.aegon.co.uk/about-aegon.html

  • Why it should be changed:

Aegon UK is not only based in Edinburgh but in other offices across the UK. The wording of their offering (long-term savings, investments, pension solutions and protection products) should match the wording of the tagline at the top of the Aegon UK website and about us page.

CHANGE 2: In the history section INSERT the following new sentences at the end of history section: In March 2020, Mike Holliday-Williams became the new CEO following the retirement of Adrian Grace after 10 years with Aegon. In April 2021, Aegon acquired Pension Geeks, an award-winning business that specialises in connecting people with their finances through innovative engagement techniques, communication and events – making pensions as easy as possible to understand.

  • Why it should be changed:

Sentences should be added to provide more thorough information of Aegon UK’s history

CHANGE 3: In the products and customers section Change the last sentence from In the UK, Aegon has over 3 million customers[5] and manages around £170bn of customers’ savings.6 To In the UK, Aegon has over 3.8 million customers and manages around £214bn of customers’ savings.

Ref for 3.8m should be this existing ref: https://www.aegon.co.uk/about-aegon/our-history.html Ref for £214bn is: https://www.aegon.com/contentassets/de52ce5a07f94beeb0b221cb51ddecb7/aegon-4q-2021-financial-supplement.pdf page 43

  • Why it should be changed:

Figures are inaccurate and need updated with most recent evidence.

CHANGE 4: In “People and locations” section: Change the sentence “Aegon has around 3,000 UK employees” to “Aegon has over 2,000 UK employees”

Ref: https://www.aegon.co.uk/about-aegon.html (same reference as current one)

  • Why it should be changed:

This figure has changed and so needs to be updated accordingly

CHANGE 5: In the “People and locations” section Add the following sentence to the end of the section: In 2021, Aegon was formally recognised as a Living Wage Employer. It is also a signatory of the Women in Finance Charter and the Race at Work Charter.

Reference: https://www.aegon.co.uk/about-aegon/sustainability-matters/our-people-matter.html

  • Why it should be changed:

The sentence should be added to add further context and information to this section

CHANGE 6: “Company Management” section REMOVE the following appointments: Managing Director - Digital Solutions, Mark Till, appointed 2016 Managing Director - Existing Business, Dougy Grant, appointed 2016 Managing Director - Transformation, Innovation and Growth, Ed Dymott, appointed 2018

ADD and AMEND as following: The list should read in this order, have noted *amendment* or *new addition* for changes Chief Executive Officer, Mike Holliday-Williams, appointed 2019

  • amendment* Chief Financial Officer, Jim Ewing, appointed 2021
  • amendment* Chief Risk Officer, Alison Morris, appointed 2022
  • new addition* Chief Marketing Officer, Andy Manson, appointed 2016

Chief Distribution Officer, Ronnie Taylor, appointed 2018

  • new addition* Transformation Director, Sarah Barry, appointed 2021

Reference for changes: https://www.aegon.co.uk/about-aegon/our-people.html

  • Why it should be changed:

CHANGE 7: “Sponsorship” section: Change the sentence “In 2019 Aegon was a sponsor for Pride Edinburgh and Essex Pride events.” To the following: As part of Aegon’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, it has sponsored Pride events in Edinburgh and Essex across multiple years, most recently in 2022 where it was the headline sponsor of Essex Pride.

Reference: https://www.aegonam.com/en/secondary-navigation/media-center/aegon-supports-essex-pride-as-headline-sponsor/?ExpandAll

  • Why it should be changed:

Accuracy to show it has sponsored the event several times.

CHANGE 8: “Charity” section: Change this sentence: In 2007, Aegon started a Breakfast Club to provide children with a free, healthy and nutritional start to the day. Working with Edinburgh local councils, they identified schools with the greatest need, and currently fund over 1,000 breakfasts a week, to participating schools. To: In 2007, Aegon started a Breakfast Club to provide children with a free, healthy and nutritional start to the day. In partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council, they continue to provide funding to support breakfast clubs in five Edinburgh primary schools.

Reference :https://www.aegon.co.uk/about-aegon/sustainability-matters/giving-back-matters.html

  • Why it should be changed:

Aegon don’t have an up to date accurate number of breakfasts provided through the breakfast clubs. The new wording is a more accurate description of how the money Aegon provide is used. Aegon work with the City of Edinburgh Council, not Edinburgh local councils.

CHANGE 9: “Charity” section: REMOVE these sentences: In 2019 it raised £106,000 for its nominated local charities.[10] In 2020 it donated £250,000 to support charities during the coronavirus pandemic.[11] REPLACE with: Aegon has raised over £2 million, supporting over 90 local and national charities in total. It donated £148,210 to charities in 2021. Aegon donates £2 for every £1 raised by employees and offers each employee two paid volunteer days each year.

Reference: https://www.aegon.co.uk/about-aegon/sustainability-matters/giving-back-matters.html

  • Why it should be changed:

To better reflect the information on the Aegon website

Hi, thank you for your comments. Happy to resubmit but in some cases I feel the Aegon materials are the best source/reference for this? For example the company management, and the £214bn of customer savings?
