Your article is great and the tone is formal. One suggestion I would give is to make it more user-friendly for people who know nothing about baseball. It took me some time to understand what the article was about (because of my poor background knowledge). Overall, however I think you are on a great track. I look forward to reading your completed article.

In terms of improvement I would suggest using terms that are more recognizable to those who are not familiar with the sport. I would also suggest using sources in order to make your article seem more credible. Another part of your article that I really liked was how you linked different wiki pages when necessary.
