– French cyclists per sources and majuscule É WP:FRMOS In ictu oculi (talk) 13:33, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
- Support, straightforward restoration of diacritics. Note some French sources sometimes omit all diacritics from uppercase letters, as a holdover from the metal-typesetting era when these were troublesome to typeset while maintaining even spacing with the preceding line. However, French encyclopedias never omitted these even in that prior era, nor did dictionaries or other references sources which consist of multiple alphabetically-arranged entries with the title in boldface at the start of the entry. — P.T. - Oppose/Comment/Support - I can not blanket support all of these as they each need to be evaluated individually. We need to see what English sources say for each one. (In the case of Émile Idée, for example, it makes no sense to write Emile unaccented, then Idée accented - it's either Emile Idee, or Émile Idée.) In general yes capital letters take accents in French.--Education does not equal common sense. 我不在乎 15:29, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
- UnQuébécois, again there are no reliable-for-French-name English sources here, these are sports stubs. Foreign language sources are allowed in en.wp, and even preferred when English sources are insufficient. See WP:AT "German for German politicians" WP:IRS "best such sources". As for É please see WP:FRMOS, this is the style guide for French bios on en.wp. Under WP:FRMOS all French Érics, Émiles, Édiths, Étiennes, Édouards are written with majuscule accents on en.wp, the same as on fr.wp. In ictu oculi (talk) 15:37, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

- WP:AGF please. I read "We need to see what English sources say for each one" and I replied as I replied. Please check the link to policy and guidelines. Thanks. In ictu oculi (talk) 15:57, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
- Again, do not assume to know what I have linked to or not. You obviously have focused in on one small part of my comment and are responding as if that was all I stated, assuming that I have not already been made aware of English Wikipedia guidelines on this subject. (What we do on french Wikipedia has no bearing here it is a separate project.) They are just that guidelines, not rules written in stone, read opening statement on MOS: "This guideline is a part of the English Wikipedia's Manual of Style. Use common sense in applying it; it will have occasional exceptions. Please ensure that any edits to this page reflect consensus." And as I stated, each request needs to be evaluated individually. I also stated that in general capital letters take accents in french. It might actually be that I would have supported each and every rename, but not a blanket renaming proposal. --Education does not equal common sense. 我不在乎 16:17, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

- All I can say is that local French sources are in the articles, and WP:FRMOS is an en.wp guideline. No one is forcing anyone to oppose/support/comment on this RM. What I and no one else can do is produce quality English sources which don't exist for these BLP stubs. Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:03, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
- Support Marek Hrivík, Paul Rémy, Eduardo Barragán, and Stéphane Charbonneau agree with me. --BDD (talk) 06:33, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- Support; more accurate rendering of names. We needn't be bound by earlier typographical constraints. bobrayner (talk) 20:01, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- support per nom.--Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 16:40, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
- ADDED Émilien-Benoît Bergès - another cyclist, missed. Addition seems fairly straightforward, but if anyone objects then drop him. In ictu oculi (talk) 04:57, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
