[edit]I deleted this sentence fragment from the tribunal section:
...building charter schools which is made of an orphance,...
I'm not sure what it's supposed to mean but if anyone else can decipher it....--Kick the cat 16:25, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

I think default sort is a mistake for Arabic names
[edit]I think default sort is a mistake for individuals with Arabic names.
People with Arabic names don't inherit a surname, like people with an European do. Traditionally the closest thing they have to a "last name" is their father's first name.
And it is absolutely clear to me that it is a mistake to use default sort for the Guantanamo captives -- because the US Department of Defense can't consistently figure out what their names are.
Therefore I just reverted an edit where a well-meaning contributor imposed default sort on this individual.
Please don't impose default sort on these guys without discussing it first.

move
[edit]What is the source for the name that is used now? After carefully evaluating the sources in the article and multiple secondary sources from search results. I plan to move the article to Adel Hassan. Any objection? IQinn (talk) 12:20, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- In this suggested rename you have asserted that you have "carefully evaluated" multiple secondary sources from search results. Please start "showing your work". Please stop claiming you have reviewed multiple secondary sources without stating what those sources area -- and linking to them. There is an overhead for renaming articles, and it should only be done for good reasons. Geo Swan (talk) 13:29, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yes i carefully checked and evaluated sources and put time into that. Have you checked the new name suggestion in the search engines and additional sources? Could you please answer my question and explain and give the source for the name that is use now? IQinn (talk) 15:13, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Could you please explain...
[edit]Another contributor removed the "identity" section from this article. They did so without any explanation other than that provided in their edit summary, "removed the 'Identity' section with the "Captive 940..." as it is dehumanizing and even with another title it is WP:OR"
This contributor made similar excisions to dozens of articles.
I've asked this contributor to explain what policy they consulted before characterizing this material as "dehumanizing". I've asked this contributor to explain how they came to the conclusion this section included original research.
In reply this contributor told me it was my responsibility to prove these section weren't original research. My general response to that is that collation of published WP:RS, without adding novel interpretations, is not "original research". Adding novel interpretations would lapse from WP:SYN. I've asked for whether the excising contributor could identify novel interpretations. So far they have not tried to name any.
I believe this section should be restored to this article. And, if no meaningful, substantive, policy-based explanation is supplied within a reasonable period of time I will feel free to do so.

- I have ask the editor who has added these kind of sections to hundreds of Guantanamo biographies (The same editor who has written this post here) to address the given arguments and to explain why we need these kind of sections that is dehumanizing. Until today he did not answer me. The section is a violation of WP:SYN and dehumanizing and i have explained this on another talk page. IQinn (talk) 01:26, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
