Apparently railway line opened early

[edit]

According to http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-34871074 Can Ethiopia’s railway bring peace to Somalia?

"Due to the urgent need to feed the 8.2 million people Ethiopia says are suffering from the drought, the Addis Ababa-Djibouti line opened ahead of schedule on 20 November." -- KlausFoehl (talk) 15:27, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

High Speed ?

[edit]

The info in the article says maximum speed on the railway is 160 km/h ythis is not a high speed railway as defined by any international organization, even if the phrase high speed was used in a press article — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.238.124.206 (talk) 11:44, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. This railway clearly does not meet International Union of Railways definition of high-speed railways (new lines designed for speeds above 250 km/h and in some cases, upgraded existing lines for speeds up to 200 or even 220 km/h).[1] --Jklamo (talk) 19:57, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Left or right hand traffic?

[edit]

The article says "Trains run on the: Left", but the moving pictures show train running on the right on a double track section? Please explain. MountVic127 (talk) 11:15, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

See: Picture of right hand running train — Preceding unsigned comment added by MountVic127 (talkcontribs) 11:24, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Trains normally run on the left. There are many videos showing left-handed traffic:
The railway is signaled in both directions. If one track is blocked or closed for maintenance, trains can run in the reverse direction to overtake or bypass.
