Should the paper by Ilie et al be cited?

[edit]

The article by Ilie at al is controversial, see the paper by E Novak and H Wozniakowski (two respected researchers in numerical analysis) on arxiv: http://arxiv.org/pdf/0904.4441

'How to content'

[edit]

There was a notice dating from 2009 that this article contained 'how to' content (contrary to WP:NOTHOWTO). This is true, but I have removed the template because I don't think this is a problem for the article. For articles such as this one on mathematical methods, a 'how to' may be the best way to illustrate the method being talked about. Of course, there should be discussion about other aspects of the method as well -- who came up with it, when it is used, and so on. --jftsang 16:02, 17 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A bit chatty. Far more can be added; the method with halving the step size is rarely used. Implementation details: various safety factors, PI control. Examples showing the importance of variable step size. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 13:52, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
