Danish nationality
[edit]He has a Danish mother - as confirmed by BBC - and he holds Danish nationality, as confirmed by playerhistory.com. GiantSnowman 12:24, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- I haven't found anything on his mother, but he have dual citizenship according to this article in Verdens Gang ([1]), and since it is a Norwegian paper I believe they would have mentioned it if he was Danish and Ghanaian, so I guess the IP is correct. Mentoz86 (talk) 16:23, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- In this article in BBC ([2]), Kwarasey states that "It is true that my mum is a Norwegian but it has always being a dream for me to play in the colours of Ghana", so I changed the article and sourced it. Mentoz86 (talk) 18:34, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- The 2011 BBC article is probably more accurate than the 2007 BBC article, but no idea why they contradict one another. Maybe his mum is Danish-Norwegian? GiantSnowman 23:14, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- I personally believe that in the article in BBC when Kwarasey supposedly said "It is true that his mum is Norwegian", it was most likely wrongly interpreted. I honestly believe that Kwarasey's mother is either a naturalized Norwegian of Danish descent or a Danish-Norwegian. 31.110.32.7 (talk) 23:32, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- We have one article in BBC stating his mother is Danish, and playerhistory.com that states he is Danish. On the other hand, we also have one article in BBC stating his mother is Norwegian, and one article in Verdens Gang stating he have "dual citizenship". That means that one of the BBC-journalists have done an error, and we should find out what is most likely of this, as we have two reliable sources on "each side". This guy is pretty notable in Norway, and have been subject for a lot of interviews the last couple of years, and if his mother was Danish it would be simple to find another source for it (I can't find any relation to Denmark), but if his mother is Norwegian you would never be able to find a source that states "my mother is not danish", as it is pretty common to have a Norwegian mother in Norway. Mentoz86 (talk) 10:22, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- In addition to the other sources, I have now found that Store Norske Leksikon ([3]) and Dagbladet ([4]) states that he has "norsk mor og ghanesisk far" (Norwegian mother and Ghanaian father), so I guess the BBC-journalist was mistaken, so I am removing every trace of the Danish mother in the article. Mentoz86 (talk) 13:25, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Good find! GiantSnowman 13:49, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Article header (Norwegian-born)
[edit]The "Norwegian-born" that is continually added to the article header by Mentoz86, despite the sentence "Norwegian-born" already mentioned twice (2 times) in the article infobox and (Early and personal life) section of the article is Non-constructive. It pushes the sentence "Ghanaian footballer" under the sentence "Norwegian-born" so when a person reads the article they would see a link towards Norway despite Adambathia Larsen Kwarasey being a senior Ghana football team international. Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) list Adambathia Larsen Kwarasey nationality as Ghanaian so that is what should be in the article header. The reason that Mentoz86 gave for inserting the sentence "Norwegian-born" into the article header was that "Kwarasey is a Norwegian of Ghanaian descent that chose to play for his father's country", although Adambathia Larsen Kwarasey's mother is also a citizen of Ghana and she herself holds a Ghanaian passport. There are many White Africans of Scandinavian-Norwegians, Danes, Swedes, Dutch, Portuguese, German, Irish and British descent from and living in the Republic of Ghana. If Mentoz86 took some time to look into the history and ethnic make-up of the Republic of Ghana he would know this and would not have just thought that "Adambathia Larsen Kwarasey chose to play for his father's country", even when in November 2007, Adambathia Larsen Kwarasey declared that he would play international football for Ghana, one (1) year before he played a friendly football match for the Norway U-21 national football team in 2008, due to Adambathia Larsen Kwarasey holding both a Norwegian passport and a Ghanaian passport. 31.96.104.243 (talk) 02:27, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
- WP:LEAD states that The lead should be able to stand alone as a concise overview. It should define the topic, establish context, explain why the topic is interesting or notable, and summarize the most important points—including any prominent controversies. Adam Larsen Kwarasey IS born, raised and only had a Norwegian passport until 2010 (The article from Dagbladet in October 2010 above states that "Kwarasey have received his Ghanaian passport, and is ready to play for Ghana when GFF have sorted out the paperworks"), and the only connection to Ghana was his father, and just leaving that out of the lead would be wrong. I don't care how it's written in the lead, as long as it's mentioned, and I thought Norwegian-born was suitable, but I'm open for other suggestion as long as it is mentioned in the lead that he is Norwegian. (Kevin-Prince Boateng's situation is kinda similar, and it that article's lead it's written "German-born Ghanaian footballer". The things you suggest with his mother being Ghanaian (last week she was Danish), have no weight without a source. Mentoz86 (talk) 19:32, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
