Doubtful source

The text claims that "During the 1930s, the Kriegsmarine had paid banana plantations in Central America to have banana boats built by German yards, suitable for quick conversion for navy use.", based on a book by a Mr. Duffy which seems not to include any original research. This statement is clearly false if you take a look at the actual ships used as raiders. Only one of the nine ships used were banana boats. Some were older turbine steamers (Orion, Widder), some were large ships built for the East-India (Atlantis, Pinguin, Kormoran) or Australian (orion and Widder, again) trade, others for the South American (Komet) or Mediterranean (Stier) lines. In addition, Germany imported bananas mostly from Cameroon, not from central America. HC Stempel (talk) 14:45, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
