Accredo bases its profits on two tenants: The concept of large purchasing volumes of very expensive medications at a lower price due to the volume, and on systematic failure to fill these expensive prescriptions so patients receive fewer doses in a fiscal year but getting paid a global fee for prescriptions from Insurance companies and Medical Groups. This systematic denial of care is couched as "computer glitches" and "shipping issues" or more commonly "needing a new prescription from your doctor".
