Absurd Are Not NSBM

[edit]

Absurd are not NSBM music. This is getting tiresome. Rather than what people say, do what I did and read all of their lyrics and statements - nothing NSBM at all. Contact Wolf at [redact] also and point out to him what is NSBM in the band. Metallum actually have it right after I looked into it http://www.metal-archives.com/more.php?id=383 - "Despite constantly being labeled "NS Black Metal", Absurd have actually predominantly worked with morbid and barbaric themes on both their early and their recent releases. The only exception has been the "Asgardsrei" release in 1999, having NS-references in the lyrics of one song ("Germanien über alles"), the liner notes and the symbolism used." - this does not make them NSBM! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.132.248.227 (talk) 09:25, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Absurd isn't NSBM because Absurd isn't Black Metal, but they were a Nazi band for a while. Their early releases were punk rock/metal, their newer stuff has pagan metal influences. They have punk riffs and clean or Oi-like vocals: Eternal Winter, Ein Jäger aus Wallhall - This definitively isn't Black Metal!

Their newer lyrics aren't NS yet. But some of the lyrics from facta locuuntor and other old releases have national-socialist and anti-semitic themes:

Südland wird fallen, wie schon Ostland fiel
Es auszulöschen, das ist unser Ziel
Israel, Juda im Schmutz vernichtet
....
Gegen Untermenschen, doch nichts stoppt unsern Lauf
Gott Jahwe, wir schlitzen Deinen Bastard auf
Translation:
Southland will fall, like eastland once
to eradicate it, our destination is
Israel, Juda destroyed into the filth
...
against sub-humans, but nothing stops our run
god Yahwe, we slit your bastard
- Absurd - Der Sieg ist unser. (Facta Loquuntor)

In den Divisionen "Wiking" und "Nordland" waren geeint
Unsre Ahnen unerschütterlich für das Reich gegen den Feind.
Ihre Ehre die hieß Treue, in den Adern floss ein (arisch) Blut,
Translation:
In the divisions "Wiking" and "Nordland" united
Our forefathers sturdy for the Reich and against the enemy
Their honor was loyalty, in their veins floated an (aryan) blood, ...
- Absurd - Germanien über alles (Asgardsrei)

So you should consider Absurd as Nazi Band, but not as "NSBM" because this isn'T black metal. See here for more information about Absurd, but is in german. Absurd @ Turn It Down. 79.215.237.101 (talk) 16:42, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Absurd IS a black metal band, so I'm not sure what that insinuation was about, also antisemitism does not = nazi, honestly I don't see anything in this that isn't blatant fallacy. 107.11.136.170 (talk) 18:19, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I just wanted to comment that I made changes to the Absurd page by contacting Sebastian himself [redact], articles taken from http://www.vampire-magazine.com, and http://www.metal-archives.com, and the book "Lords of Chaos". I wasn't sure how to mark these changes, and they are 100% accurate (I cannot stress this enough!), so hopefully they won't be changed. I also cleaned up the article a bit to remove redundant information and to update information on Sebastian's current projects. Thank you.

Someone should add some description of Absurds music, what is it like and how it has changed since Wolf took ower. I have heard fairly little pre-Wold Absurd, but it seems to be quite a bit different from their current style. I'm a bit ill experienced to describe music.

There is also a bunch of other bands called Absurd, but only a russian band seems to be active (in addition to this one). This should be noted to avoid confusion.

I think that more should be told about the current post-JFN Absurd as for example half of the studio albums and all EPs seen on the page are from that period. UDoWs 14:54, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why is the book "Lords of Chaos" not a good source?

[edit]

The book has all the hallmarks of verifiabilty per wiki guidlines. I'm removing the "better source needed" tag unless someone can show me otherwise. Gamle Kvitrafn (talk) 05:02, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
