Template Terrorism
[edit]Hi Sherurcij, you re-inserted a previously removed template in this edit here.
With this explanation:
"rvt, he is either a perpetrator or a victim, either way it belongs"
1) He is a perpetrator in connection with terrorism? I can find nothing in the article that says so.
2) He is a victim of terrorism?
I can find nothing in the article that confirms he is involved in terrorism in any way. The inclusion of this template prejudges him and it needs to be removed as this is a BLP of an relative unknown individual.
Please explain. regards Iqinn (talk) 05:47, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- He is accused of being a terrorist, even though there is no "proof" as you indicate. This makes him either an active participant in the "War on Terror" as a terrorist, or a victim of the "War on Terror" who was unjustly imprisoned. Either type of person would merit inclusion in Wikiproject:Terrorism. Sherurcij (speaker for the dead) 05:49, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Let's try to fix the problem for all involved articles. "War on Terror" the term alone make me a lot of headache... There are hundreds of BLP's where the template is attached. No problem with most of them. But we have a lot BLP's where this template is highly problematic.
- For example in the Biography of a German individuals the logo of the RAF alone could cause problems. In others the connection to being a victim of "War on Terror" is even more doubtful then in the article here. We have to make each and every one of the BLP's compliant with our policies. So i think we have some choices here:
- 1) Keep the template in it's current form i guess we need to remove the template from more than 100 BLP's
- 2) If the template would slightly changed we may have to take it off from about 30-50 BLP's
- 3) substantial change of the template that avoids the word terrorism but still makes clear that the project Terrorism exist and people can find it. Could fully solve our problems but is difficult to achieve. What do you think? Iqinn (talk) 08:35, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- The simple use of the word "terrorism" implies nothing more than a tangential connection of the article to an aspect of terrorism; we do not need to remove the Wikiproject template from BLPs unless there has never been any verifiable allegation that they were a perpetrator, bystander, victim or in any other way related to the idea of terrorism. Not everybody in Wikiproject:Communism is a communist either. Sherurcij (speaker for the dead) 09:16, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
←I can not find any "relative unknown" individual in Wikiproject:Communism where the template is attached? Could you give me some links? As i said we have explained above we have to remove the template only from some of the BLP's. Most articles do not have any problems. But there are some cases where the template obviously prejudges the individuals and there are some case where we can argue about that. So which way shall we go? Changing the template? Or going through the problematic articles one by one? Iqinn (talk) 02:40, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
If there is no further demand of discussion i will remove the template from this page and from other pages, when i come along a BLP of a relative unknown living individual who has nothing to do with terrorism and therefor is prejudged by it. Iqinn (talk) 01:43, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
Consensus to remove the template from the limited BLP's of relative unknown individuals as discussed. Iqinn (talk) 07:06, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

- Another useful source is the The Guantanamo Docket it is an interactive database provided and updated by the New York Times. The database is searchable and has the Pentagon documents (CSRT and ARB) included. Additional documents and reliable New York Times research regarding the detainees at Guantanamo are also provided. This is the link to the documents and research regarding Abdul Aziz Abdullah Ali al Suadi. IQinn (talk) 12:43, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
Another contributor decided to over-ride the default state for the navigation templates on dozens of articles, and "collapse" them, by hand. They didn't provide any explanation for these edits at the time. But later, they claimed the templates were "too long" and lapsed from compliance with NPOV.
Not being an expert in navigation templates, I checked, at Wikipedia_talk:Navigation_templates#When should navigation templates be ?, and reported back to the talk page where the controversy was first discussed. It seems the only contributor not willing to leave navigation templates in their default state was the contributor who all the templates in the first place.
FWIW, I have made several requests to this contributor to explain their NPOV concern -- so far no joy. Geo Swan (talk) 12:44, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
