"Former footballer"

[edit]

There is dispute and a question of ethics over whether or not Nouri is a former/retired footballer. To some, it is condescending to his grave condition to even imagine him playing football again, and to others he is still listed on Ajax's website so it is no different to a player having cancer treatment or just being injured. We need consensus here, please give your reasoning on the matter. I understand both sides Harambe Walks (talk) 13:19, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • He is still in a coma and everyone is pulling for him. The Arena is clad in giant banners with the nr. 34, and they will probably retire his number by the end of the season. Ajax have still registered him as a player in support of the family and in team spirit, since Nouri is very much a part of the Ajax club and family. We are all pulling for him to wake up from his coma and Ajax will not just write him off before he does. They are showing solidarity, support and brotherhood, and are including him this season because it was meant to be his, and because he is family and I trust Ajax will treat his accident in a professional and respectful manner, while supporting his recovery.
