  • " Abdallah's capture of Gangra ranks as one of the greatest successes of Umayyad arms against the Byzantines in this period." -- Which historian says this? They should be identified to remove the appearance that it's an unfounded opinion.
  • "Turkish epic of Sayyid Baţţāl Ghāzī." -- Does this have a translation?
  • Do any sources indicate the verifiability of his tales? I see one reference that a statement can't be determined to be true, but it would help to know if any one detail is more reliable than anything else, particularly for a bio that has been embellished in folklore over time.
  • Dab links and external links look good. No duplicate links. Not a large article, but overall it's still a noteworthy topic. On hold pending responses. —Ed!(talk) 03:41, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Ed! I've added Blankinship's name to the statement about the capture of Gangra, and rewritten/expanded the section on his legacy and the myth that grew around his name. Your second question is (hopefully) clarified in the additions. On the tales, I am not sure quite what you mean; the episodes mentioned in the "Legacy" section are clearly later interpolations. On the brevity of the article, I could add more details in the "Legacy" section, but I feel that these belong to more dedicated articles dealing with Battal the literary hero, rather than the historical figure. Ideally, there should be an article on the Delhemma (which I will probably come around to writing), on the Battalname (i.e. the Turkish epic), and the existing article on Battal Gazi should be expanded and improved dealing with Battal in Turkish literary, folk and religious tradition. Taking a look at the article, I'm satisfied with the improvements you have made. Given the limited knowledge of the figure I would be more apt to want background info included if it were to go up for A-class or something, but to me this is sufficient, given the lack of information about him, for GA. —Ed!(talk) 13:33, 14 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Great, I'll keep your advice in mind. Thanks for taking the time to review! Constantine 15:10, 14 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
