Thing he's best known for not mentioned

[edit]

The best-known story told of him is he was a scribe for Mohammed, but apostacised because Mohammed let him change and improve verses, so he decided they couldn't be the perfect word of God. Why is this not mentioned anywhere? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Orlando098 (talkcontribs) 16:57, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Because of lack of source material. آرین مسعودی (talk) 08:38, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I see this has been added and my edits to at least clarify dissenting opinions of the same have not been accepted yet.
Muslim scholars reject the veracity of this story because of the weakness in the authenticity of the narration, and that the story has been imputed to more than one scribe.
The story is also said to have taken place in Medina, while the Surah cited in the story is from the Meccan period as mentioned on the Wikipedia page for it.

In the referring chapter of our article you can read to following quote: "the Messenger of Allah invited him [...] also been revealed to me."
It is claimed that the reference for that literal quote should be https://www.altafsir.com/Books/Asbab%20Al-Nuzul%20by%20Al-Wahidi.pdf
However, at least I was not able to find the quote in that PDF-Document. Thus I would like to ask if someone could mention the number of the page on which that quote can be read. Thank you.--Dreisam (talk) 19:45, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Incomprehensible and grammatically incorrect phrase

[edit]

' It has been claimed that when the 14th verse had been dictated to Abdallah in the section "and then produced it as another creation", Abdallah expressed his amazement by saying "So blessed be Allah, the Best of Creators!" '

This is incomprehensible and grammatically incorrect. What is the subject of the verb 'produced'? The subject of the previous verb is 'the 14th verse' - so grammatically, it should be the subject of 'produced' too, but this is meaningless. 87.126.21.225 (talk) 20:10, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Entry of Abdullah ibn Sa'd inn Sarh

[edit]

Reference is made more than once of.Abdullah's traveling to "Israel." "Israel" didn't exist at that time. The entire region was known as Al-Sham, which reportedly included what is now known as Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, and perhaps part of Turkey. 5.111.37.55 (talk) 16:02, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Most countries are known by more than one name-- the name they are called by outsiders and the name they call themselves. Or check out Germany/Allemand/Nemcy, known to the Germans themselves as Deutschland.
Give that Israel is mentioned many times in the Quran, it seems likely that any scribes knew that's where they were going. 138.88.216.200 (talk) 19:22, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
