Deletion Proposal
[edit]Exactly what makes this movie notable enough to stay on Wikipedia? -- VegitaU 00:54, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Resons for this film being notable
[edit]This film has received international press in the UK, as well as in Scotland. The article, written by Tim Cooper, was published in the UK Guardian Observer and was featured in a 5 page spread. Title of the article, "20th Century Foxed". Within this article, there is a review that is integrated into the story coverage.
2. The film is also notable because it just happens to be a one of a kind indie project, which managed to garner 17 A-list celebrity cameos and was made for under $5,000. Which, as we all know, is a very rare and unusual occurrence in the film industry.
3. A meaningful quote: “The film is an inspiration to independent filmmakers everywhere…” Mayor Ray Nagin – New Orleans.
4. Abby Singer has just recently received a review of an A- Link to Review
5. Although this film is not exactly what would be considered a " hollywood blockbuster", it has received a good bit of attention. There are several films listed on Wikipedia that do not have a national review. With that being said, it depends on how the term 'national' is to be defined. Abby Singer has may not have been covered in The Hollywood Reporter or Variety, but with the Observer article, the BBC radio interview and other reviews/web articles, I would hardly say that the film should be rendered non-newsworthy.
6. Another interesting tid-bit is that with all the celebrities that appear in the film, all of them have signed their consent/release forms and have exhibited genuine support for the film. This is in addition to them not receiving compensation.
7. This film is worthy of remaining on Wikipedia because it is a beautiful example and message to indie filmmakers that an independent film can be done with little to no money AND still have a punch. (i.e.: celebrities)
8. To expand on #7's point further, on making a film with an ultra low budget, please see FilmNut Interivew for information about how the film was made and other general information. Also included here is a good lesson on how films are distributed and released.
9. Please refer to, Ain't Cool News, for information about the film and a film festival that the filmmakers created.
10. The film has been featured in over 25 film festivals and has been viewed by many all over the US. For an example, please refer to the following, NY International Independent Film and Video Festival. Although the film didn't ever play in Sundance or a major film festival, it is still an accomplishment for a film of this nature to have screened and gain as much exposure as it did. In addition, the film has won several awards.
11. Abby Singer was covered in The Green Cine Daily
12. As was stated above in statement # 5, the director of the film was featured on a radio interview. Please refer to the following, BBC Radio Scotland (UK), 30 September 2003
13. Lastly, please note that Abby Singer is listed with the IMDB (internet movie data base).
Although I could go on, I believe this to be sufficient for the time being. If requested, I would be more than happy to present more information to back up my claim and defense of this film as being worthy of remaining on Wikipedia. In addition to VegitaU, I encourage others to comment on this page and submit additional feedback/comments so that I may work to make this page better and more useful.

- If "the goal of this page..." is to be "a page about the importance of indie filmmaking..." etc., then this article needs to be deleted right away! That is not a legitimate purpose for an article in Wikipedia, which is a reference work. You are badly undermining your own case here. If the article is to remain, it must be an unbiased description of the film and its place in cinema; nothing more. Please read WP:SOAPBOX for more details. --Orange Mike 13:19, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the for the heads up. I understand and see your point. I will fix as much as I can. I beleve this film si important to be included in Wikipedia. So I will take care of the the section that you pointed out. I guess it would be good instead everyone saying Delete, Delete, just help make this a better article.

Though I don't have any direct experience with this film myself, given the reasons cited above, I think this film is definitely notable enough to warrant keeping. -- Grandpafootsoldier 22:15, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Per Issue Not-notable, has a few small-time awards, but no national reviews
[edit]- Please read the above: Reson for this film being notable I have proven this. Thanks for your input. Per request I have addressed this issue. CamdawgUGA 00:53, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Addressing issues of an unbiased description of the film
[edit]I have been unbiased and at this point with the changes and info I have provided, Coming for the IMDB, and other unbiased sources. The film article needs work, but please help instead of trying to delete it. This is a reference work. This is not a fan site or anything of thing of that sort. I am working on a History Degree at UGA and I understand how important it is to be unbiased about events and published works. I am doing this as a school project in Film History CamdawgUGA 01:13, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Adding the Ending to Plot

This is based on the Wikiproject Film style guidelines. Also added Plot for meeting the Article Upgraded Needed Notice CamdawgUGA 07:14, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
