Merge
[edit]"Abazinia" is apparently a neologism, marginally mentioned even in modern sources. Google Books search both in Russian and English yields no results. The current article is unsourced and recapitulates the entry on the Abazins. IMO, the article should be merged with that of the Abazin people. --KoberTalk 06:39, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Abazinsky District's History section could be another possible merge target for this.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); July 9, 2015; 12:07 (UTC)
- Tsutsiev's atlas shows Abazins at approximately the Abazinsky District on the upper Kuban near Cherkessk from 1886 on. The Psyzh mentioned is a suburb of Cherkessk according to google earth. But his earliest map for 1774 shows a different Abazia with the same east-west extent as Abkhazia separating the Kabardia from Circassia proper. North-south it extended from the mountain crest to Nogai country. Apparently they were Abkhazians who lived north of the mountains and therefore had a different dialect. Presumably they were expelled in 1864 since his 1886 map shows old Abazia and uninhabited except for Russians in the far north. Thus original Abazia and the Cherkessk remnant are basically 2 different things and our Abazin pages do not clearly distinguish them. I don't have enough sources to fix them. The current article seems like one of those imaginary nations dreamed up by a few intellectuals that never got anywhere (there are such things). Benjamin Trovato (talk) 07:11, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
