[edit]

I am creating a biographical article about Aaron Green, now. I know that Aaron Green was a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, owns an architectural firm in San Francisco, and has designed several eye-catching buildings in a unique style. Being a student of Frank Lloyd Wright alone should be enough to justify notability. I have just begun the search for references and will be populating this article with them. Of course, your help is welcome.  X  S  G  03:46, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability is not inherited. Wikipedia is not a directory or advertising service. JohnnyMrNinja 04:31, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Regardless of your opinion regarding notability, notability was very clearly stated and therefore your attempt to use a Speedy Delete A7 was entirely inappropriate. Please review your Wikipedia processes before attempting to apply them. If you don't want this article in Wikipedia, you must go for an AfD.  X  S  G  04:46, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please read WP:NN. Being a protege of whoever doesn't make him notable, significant coverage in reliable secondary sources does. The sources referenced are clearly not secondary. JohnnyMrNinja 04:50, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Who do you think you can convince that the New York Times and Marin County, California are not secondary sources? The point is, it is highly inappropriate and downright rude to place a Speedy Delete tag on an article that is less than fifteen minutes old and is being actively worked on, as noted on the article's discussion page.  X  S  G  05:08, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, please note, I contest that Green is a notable architect on his own accord. That he was a protege of Frank Lloyd Wright is just icing.  X  S  G  05:12, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • In any case XSG, under no condition should you remove a CSD placed on your own article. You may place a {{Hangon}} at the top of the page. Wikipedia works on consensus and if you try to block that process then other edits (such as myself) will consider that bad faith and tend to oppose. --Triwbe (talk) 05:04, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, fine. We'll waste someone else's time having them remove the bogus Speedy Delete tags, then.  X  S  G  05:08, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, That's how it works. I would have removed the CSD myself (I passed and checked it and did not CSD). Much better that than letting people decide on the merits of their own contributions. That would be a total disaster. --Triwbe (talk) 05:12, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I'm just more frustrated that JohnnyMrNinja can get away with assuming bad faith and completely ignored the purpose of Speedy Delete, ultimately wasting other people's time. I've re-added his CSDs so we can let the process play out properly.  X  S  G  05:32, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • That was not really needed. If I had thought so I would have replaced the CSD myself and put a {{uw-speedy1}} on your talk page, which I didn't (didn't think it would help). Regardless of WP:N etc. I know this article would be a keep on an AFD. --Triwbe (talk) 05:40, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
