Cantonese or Mandarin?

[edit]

There should not be a mix of Cantonese and Mandarin for the names because it's very confusing and irritating. We should choose either and stick to it. The names in the version that I edited some months ago were in Mandarin mostly, except for the main character's name. I changed all to Mandarin to eliminate confusion. A few days ago, an editor changed all the characters' names to Cantonese, but not for the names of the states and dynasties etc. Hence, we see "Hung Siu-Lung", "Chun Ching" etc, but also Qin Dynasty, State of Zhao etc. I've changed all the names of the states to Cantonese too. Can we arrive at a general consensus here on whether to use Cantonese or Mandarin, and stick to the final decision permanently? I'm in a dilemma here. Mandarin, because people are more familiar with "Qin Dynasty" and "Qin Shi Huang" rather than "Chun Dynasty" and "Chun Chi Wong"; Cantonese, because this series is produced in Hong Kong, and the default language is Cantonese.
