Earlier history
[edit]Maybe the phenomenon known as "the chills" - which has appeared in books for decades already - is related?
Also, there's a popular song from the middle of last century called "Witchcraft", from which I recall these words:
Those icy fingers up and down my spine,
That same old witchcraft ...
which, again, may be related; it certainly recalls the idiomatic adjective "spine-tingling". Probably, somebody who is familiar with discussions on relevant online forums, knows whether people who report experiences of ASMR differentiate it from "chills", "icy fingers" and "spine-tingling". yoyo (talk) 11:56, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
Section for Notable Content Creators
[edit]I would suggest a section for notable content creators to be added. This could be similar to the "Triggers" section with bullet points listing content creators that have made notable contributions to ASMR and links to their own Wikipedia article, if applicable. An example of this would be "Gibi ASMR" who has both made notable contributions, and has her own Wikipedia article. KyN212 (talk) 06:10, 25 September 2023 (UTC)

Changing definition
[edit]I get the feeling that this article is not really describing the term ASMR as it is most frequently used today. The boom in ASMR popularity is around what I might call imaginary touching, the best example being imaginary massage. People find this audio and/or visual experience to be extremely soothing, although they are embarassed to let others know that. I think this article describes the developing definition of ASMR: https://mashable.com/article/asmr-youtube-videos-shame --Westwind273 (talk) 02:32, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
