Talk:ASCII stereogram

When I view the first example, the word "far" appears to be floating in front of the word "near". Not sure if this is because the stereogram was create wrong, or if the font size is such that I am focusing my eyes so it overlaps twice. A note about adjusting font sizes in the browser might be useful, as stereograms only function when spaced correctly for a given viewing distance and size. 174.6.86.218 (talk)

- Thanks, but Mr. Bowen himself put this article on here. -EdGl 23:23, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
I confirm that I adapted this article from my own work under http://archive.museophile.org/3d/ascii-3d.html and with permission from myself! Jonathan Bowen 23:37, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
I added a new example. Because the paragraphs were a bit wide, I put it in <small> tags. -- Rpresser 07:54, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
I am stereoblind. Could someone please explain the content of these stereograms? NTK 05:02, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- Figure 1 has the words "near" and "far"; the word "near" appears to be on a closer plane than the word "far".
- Figure 2 is more difficult, and takes more time. After a while, though, it appears as if you are standing in a room, with the vertical lines representing a distant far wall, and the dots at the top and bottom merging into a ceiling and floor.
- Figure 3 shows the letters "Hi", on a recessed plane. (I.e., the foreground plane has holes in it)
- Figure 4 shows a picture frame with the sun, a cloud, the horizon, and flowers on the ground all at different distances.
- Figure 5 has the message "John Smith is responsible" floating above the rest of the text.

- Thanks! NTK 18:41, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- Can't see the 5th one. Maybe it's because the paragraphs are too wide? And I don't find any difficulties in visualizing the 2nd. --M4gnum0n (talk) 14:27, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- Can you see this one? It is a nonsense block of text, and instead of dual paragraphs it has repeated word strings on each line. Rpresser (talk) 15:27, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- It says: "stop wasting your time, get a life"
- But I still cannot see the dual paragraph one (and my head hurts) :/ --M4gnum0n (talk) 16:12, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'll try retreading it with narrower paragraphs. It can be tricky to make sure that the highlighted words don't hit the ends of lines. Rpresser (talk) 16:16, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- There, now the paragraphs are no wider than example 4. Only had to change two words. Gotta love par(1). Rpresser (talk) 16:28, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- Now I see it, thanks! --M4gnum0n (talk) 20:20, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
