Improved version of this article
[edit]Hi, I've been working for a while on this article, but someone just created it as a "stub". When I finish the version I'm working in, will replace the stub.
Kind regards, DPdH (talk) 05:43, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi all, I've been busy with personal issues so far. The improved version is still in "draft", will upload it if possible before end of this month.

- "two million pounds sterling" - link the current value.
- Isn't it linked already in the background section? —Ed (talk • majestic titan) 03:42, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- That's the section I'm talking about. How much is 2 million pounds sterling today? Ironholds (talk) 12:19, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- [1] says 158 million; is this was you were looking for? —Ed (talk • majestic titan) 05:38, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
- Not exactly; you need to format it in article. See this. Ironholds (talk) 13:19, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the example; I've stolen your wording and modified this article. —Ed (talk • majestic titan) 03:58, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

- "Argentine Naval Commission's chief, which was overseeing " - appears to be "the chief, which was overseeing", and thus grammatically incorrect. The second Argentina also seems extraneous. I suggest rearranging it as "Isabel Betbeder, wife to the chief of the Argentine Naval Commission, which was overseeing the construction of the ship"
- Done, but not with your quite with your wording (may want to double-check me :) —Ed (talk • majestic titan) 03:42, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- "United States' State Department" - United States Department of State, and link.
- Done, there was a link earlier but it wasn't very prominent, so I added it again. —Ed (talk • majestic titan) 03:42, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- "The trials were plagued with serious engine trouble. They culminated on 2 November, when an entire turbine failed," - "The trials were plagued with serious engine trouble, culminating with the failure of an entire turbine on 2 November. Moreno was forced to put in at Rockland, Maine..." and so on. Ironholds (talk) 19:22, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
- Done, thank you! :) —Ed (talk • majestic titan) 03:42, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
Italics in the page title
[edit]I reverted per WP:TITLE#Special characters and formatting. This is policy, so I think this change would need either a strong consensus at SHIPS and MILHIST or a change to the policy. I'd oppose, because there's a long tradition in American publishing and journalism of keeping bolding and italics out of headlines and chapter titles, and because almost no one has been doing this at MILHIST. - Dank (push to talk) 12:54, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- We've got the additional issue on Wikipedia that page titles are used as parameters in all sorts of functions (the simplest such function being page links). If confusion starts arising about whether function parameters should be in italics or not, it will be a lot more trouble than it's worth. - Dank (push to talk) 13:07, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, there's a new RFC on just this subject, I'll reply over there. - Dank (push to talk) 13:58, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- I've used it in a couple of my other articles, and ship names are widely italicized in sources. I don't see this as that big of a deal, and I view it as my decision—I'm the one writing the article (albeit with much copyediting help from you :-) ), for crying out loud. Ed (talk • majestic titan) 20:03, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- All my edits are suggestions, except for the ones that come from policy pages ... they're strong suggestions :) But policy might change per the current RfC, I'll stay tuned. - Dank (push to talk) 20:56, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah! This is a featured article! Spectra999 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 01:11, 23 September 2011 (UTC).
Year of sale?
[edit]I am not sure, if this was asked already - the infobox shows 1956 as year of sale, the end of the main article text states "January of 1957". Can someone check and clarify please? GermanJoe (talk) 08:27, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
- I've fixed this. Thanks very much :-) Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 17:31, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Conversation moved from User talk:2601:987:4180:C0:A12A:5AF1:2C3B:77BE
[edit]Hi there—I've removed the edits you made to ARA Moreno because I can't verify them in any academic sources I have access to. Could you clarify where you're getting your info from? Thanks! Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 20:19, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Ed, I used a site called www.southamericandreadnoughtrace.com and that’s where I got my info on the ARA from. I have noticed that the site was taken down about 4 months ago by its creator, but I just wanted to tell you I did get the info from a source. (Didn’t Just Make It Up) Thanks for listening. 2601:987:4180:C0:A12A:5AF1:2C3B:77BE (talk) 21:07, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info! We do have to verify info with reliable sources, so I'll have to ask you to do more research if we're to include that. I'm happy to make the necessary changes if they can be backed up. Also, your IP address changes and so you may not see future messages -- if we can move this conversation to Talk:ARA Moreno I'd appreciate it! I'll copy it there now. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 21:19, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks for the reply. Just wondering are you a historian in the South American Dreadnought Race? 2601:987:4180:C0:A12A:5AF1:2C3B:77BE (talk) 21:41, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- I wrote a master's thesis on the topic, but no, I'm not a historian. When you find those sources, can you post them at Talk:ARA Moreno#Conversation moved from User talk:2601:987:4180:C0:A12A:5AF1:2C3B:77BE? Thank you! Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 21:58, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
