[edit]is it really free? where can the source be downloaded? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.6.88.6 (talk) 05:59, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yes. See reference titled "ADMB Source Code Available" or follow external link on page to Google Code site. -IGTaylor (talk) 20:21, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- according to http://admb-project.org/community/public-domain they have not reached their "C. ADMB software suite source code freely available on a public website." milestone. The google code repository is NOT up to date - main development is happening elsewhere on a closed repository. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.6.88.6 (talk) 19:04, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- The December 2009 release is in-fact 95% complete. All of the mechanics of automatic differentiation are included, and it can by incorporated into a working statistical model. There were some organizational issues with some parts of the code that have since been resolved. A new release is planned for December 2010 which will be 100% complete and will be kept up-to-date with stable versions of the code on the development repository. Access to the development repository has been relaxed. Read-only access will be allowed to (almost) any one by sending an email to developers@admb-project.org. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JSibert (talk • contribs) 17:50, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- I was just trying to answer the question. Is it free? Certainly. Is it open source? To me, availability of source code that was used to create the binary files I've been using, combined with a clear timeline for further community access is sufficient to make it so. You can debate the issues of repositories with the people involved in the ADMB Project if you want, but for purposes of Wikipedia it seems to me that the most important thing is that source code is available to help understand how the program works. -IGTaylor (talk) 23:00, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- The full source code was released on 31 December 2009, both the stable 9.1 version (http://admb-project.googlecode.com/files/admb-9.1-src.zip) and the SVN development version (http://code.google.com/p/admb-project/source/checkout). ADMB is now really free. -Arni Magnusson 19:42, 18 March 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.144.135.59 (talk)
