Developer
[edit]As ACE is proprietary who developed it? --Abdull 22:10, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
ACE was developed by e-merge GmbH.
Another ace format
[edit]What about the gene assembly format "ace?" Anyone know something about it?
- I added a notice about it - could probably do with more detail, but at least it's mentioned kzm 11:23, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Somebody removed it, claiming that "bioinformatics has nothing to do with this page". Is it possible to create another page called ACE (file format)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ketil (talk • contribs) 08:51, August 29, 2007 (UTC)
- I was also looking for the ace assembly file format, are there any links to the sequence oriented format?
- BTW, does anyone use winace seems to me like yet another proprietary compression format, not really encyclopedic material.
7-Zip Controversy
[edit]7-Zip doesn't support WinAce files.
- Well that sucks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nohomers48 (talk • contribs) 06:02, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Free Software that supports .ace
[edit]Universal extractor on windows http://legroom.net/software/uniextract is a fine freeware that is able to extract really many compression formats including ace files, that's good. roberto90967 (I'm on wikipedia bt don't remember my id...) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.37.37.132 (talk) 19:31, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
IZArc from http://www.izarc.org/ supports .ace files out of the box, without the "UnACE.DLL". However, I didn't want to edit the main article. (I'm not up on wiki syntax, nor wikipedia standards.)
According to Comparison_of_file_archivers#Writing IZArc only supports reading them, apparently not writing. Eriryoutan (talk) 13:33, 7 January 2008 (UTC) [proper signature added]
- Also IZArc is not free software; it is only freeware. --76.91.63.71 (talk) 17:42, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
From the WinAce provider, you can also get the freeware program XAce, which unpacks ACE files. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.211.235.65 (talk) 17:51, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
- It needs email request via mails at Talk:WinAce.
Websites
[edit]winace.com and winace.de are fakes:
"this site is currently under construction"
winace.sourceforge.net is fake:
