- ... that the A479 is one of Wales' most dangerous roads? Source: " the A479 between the A40 and the A470 at Llyswen were also listed." ([1]) also see map marking the A479 as "high risk" : [2]

- The hook provided is interesting and checks out source-wise, the article had a recent enough large expansion and doesn't appear to have any copyright violations. Good to go. ⑉⑉Mccunicano☕️ 06:59, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
Safety
[edit]@Ritchie333: - I see the DYK hook is sourced, but it seems to beg for more details. The road is unsafe, but... why? Poor road maintenance? Hairpin turns around cliffs? Poor compliance with traffic laws by drivers? The just punishment of God against those who trespass upon Monmouthshire's green hills? Roving bands of Welsh cannibals that attack isolated cars after dusk? Neither of the two sources currently in the article seem to clarify this any further, but perhaps there's another source on this? It's very vague as it stands, and this seems a pretty key detail to be leaving out... SnowFire (talk) 22:35, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
- I don't have a source further than the two that list it as being one of the most dangerous. At the moment, I know part of the road near Talgarth is closed (as sourced in the article); additionally I would say the main reason is that it's a trunk road that evolved from a mountain road that isn't really fit for the traffic along it, and the bends and dips on it can be serious problems for motorcyclists. However, I am not a reliable source. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 22:37, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
- Hmm. That's too bad there's no further source, it really does seem to be hanging as is. I guess a story on a "representative accident" could be included but that veers a bit close to WP:SYNTH if not careful? Maybe we should edit in the bit about Welsh cannibal attacks, wait for the inevitable newspaper story saying "haha Wikipedia gets it wrong, they blamed cannibals when it was really (actual cause) causing the road incidents", then edit in the real reason with a reference to the article from step 2? (Note to passerby: This is what passes for a silly joke on Wikipedia, carry on, please ignore.) SnowFire (talk) 01:07, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
