Revert change from dab page to non-obvious redir
[edit]User:Causantin replaced this long-standing dab page (since at least September 2008) with a redir to Airbus A300 with the comment Changing to the obvious meaning. Fanboy playtime is over. No-one is interested in one-paragraph articles about a road to nowhere or a long scrapped ship.
Personally I don't see why a rather obsolete airliner is more obvious than a road, a ship, or an even older aeroplane. And the tone of the comment certainly does not help.
More importantly, the replacement was completely botched, with A300 (disambiguation) also redirecting to Airbus A300, thus completely removing any obvious route to the articles on the other A300s. And no dab header was added to Airbus A300, as policy requires in this case.
So I am reverting the change. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 11:48, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
I am not going to insist on the edit, since it was my fault that I (unintentionally) botched it. However, for the record, the Airbus A300 is qualitatively on a higher level of importance than the others, because it is a real, flying aircraft type with hundreds of planes flying as we speak. Many, if not most of us have probably flown in one (I know I have). Both other planes only exist in museums (if at all), and the ship has long been scrapped. As for the road, it doesn't even have its own page, for chrissake! It redirects to a "roads in the UK" page. So much for notability.Causantin (talk) 15:43, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Requested move 12 April 2022
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved. A300 will be turned into a redirect for Airbus A300, while that article will gain a hatnote pointing to the dab page. (closed by non-admin page mover) Skarmory (talk • contribs) 05:21, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
A300 → A300 (disambiguation) – Airbus A300 seems like the clear primary topic, with it frequently getting over 1,000 daily page views. The second most viewed article on this page is struggling to get over 20 a day. FozzieHey (talk) 22:21, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

- That's not relevant: there's no proposal to rename Airbus A300. – Uanfala (talk) 12:01, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- Comment. Pretty much everyone who lands on the dab page proceeds to follow the link to the aircraft [1]. – Uanfala (talk) 12:01, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Uanfala: Thanks for your reply, I didn't know that tool existed and it's certainly useful for discussions like this! We have A310, A320, A330, A340, A350 and A380 all redirecting to the respective Airbus models, and those topics seem to have very similar disambig topics as well.
