Random observation
Returned from Kaizen after a comment period. 5S is a frequently searched term, and deserves an article by itself.
Criticisms
This article needs a criticisms section to balance out the completely biased POV it is presenting - it makes 5S look like some magical solution, when it in fact is a system of maximized micromanagement which stifles innovation and creativity. 76.69.112.149 (talk) 14:42, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- That's fine, although integrating criticism into the article rather than having it as a stand-alone section fwould be better. Do you have any reliable sources which criticize the system? Qwyrxian (talk) 21:16, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
You can't have highly paid people tidying up after their act. For the dirty work lowly paid unlearned staff is avaiclable. But then, cleaning staff don't sell a single item and therefore don't add to the bottom line. They are just costs. So, if a place looks untidy, move. And discard anything that needs months to sort through. Or leave it in the moving boxes until the next move.
IN response to above:
I think 5s is intended for the working level and floor. Principals may apply to higher level employees but the goal is to strengthen the processes and enviroment that an everyday blue collar employee would be working in. That does take a bit of micromanaging which creates a more efficent work environment...
Method not Methodology
Method deals with How to do things. Methodology deals with Methods. People often get that wrong, but the word is still falsely applied. --197.229.137.29 (talk) 22:50, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
