Reception

[edit]

"Beyoncé finished the last of her "4 Intimate Nights with Beyoncé" last night at New York's famed Roseland Ballroom. The fans, the famous and the press all drew the same conclusion: Beyoncé Dazzled! Three nights of rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of the fans who formed a predictable line around the entire block of the historic venue for each show from the wee hours of the morning. Among the stars who came out to the sold out shows were Jay-Z, Sir Paul McCartney, Russell Simmons, Diddy, Lady Gaga, Maxwell, Jennifer Hudson, Mary Mary, The Dream, Ne-Yo and songwriter Diane Warren. See what the press has been saying about "4 Intimate Nights with Beyoncé."

"She is thunder, Beyoncé is. Fire and quake. A thing that can’t quite be contained. There is not any better advertisement for Beyoncé than Beyoncé herself, a hard worker who makes effort look like the most glamorous thing in the world." -The New York Times

“If there’s anything to be learned from the R&B pop talent’s magnificent set last night at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom for her 4 Intimate Nights With Beyoncé run, it’s that Beyoncé’s bigger than any ballroom.” -Entertainment Weekly

"Backed by her all-female band, Beyoncé reaffirmed her role as a peerless entertainer with her full-throated, soulful soprano and killer dance moves, in her signature stilettos." -Associated Press

“Diva haughtiness is Beyoncé's prerogative, of course, not to mention a big part of her message: from "Independent Women" to "Single Ladies" to "Run the World (Girls)," Beyoncé's anthems view female self-determination in mercenary terms, conflating empowerment with material success. At Roseland, though, the sound and the spectacle – Beyoncé stepping through raucously elaborate dance routines and belting out the songs with rafter-rattling force – made the songs' feminist message unequivocal. This was grrrl power, plain and simple.” -Rolling Stone

“During those new tunes, every hip shake and vocal quake Beyoncé laid down made a solid, sexy case for the new music and explained why she's one of pop's most able divas. In the fast, 90-minute set, she managed to melt the club crowd whether she sang a love ballad like "1+1" or a jittery, rhythm rich, hip-pop hit.” -New York Post

"This was an intimate night between Beyoncé and her fans, one in which there need not be a specific stand-out moment." -The Wall Street Journal

“The serenity at her core is borne from a supreme amount of confidence; that it comes off as something generously given is a testament to her prodigious talents as a performer on every level.” -The Village Voice

“There aren't many artists in the world that can pull off a 90-minute set in Stuart Weitzman heels and leave a beyond packed audience satisfied to the point of not needing an encore. But that's Beyoncé. Last night (August 14), the singer kicked off the first of four nights in her sold-out concert series, "4 Intimate Nights with Beyoncé" at the Roseland Ballroom. “ -Billboard

Italicized

[edit]

Since this is a revue, shouldn't any text instance of it be italicized? | helpdןǝɥ | 04:19, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, isn't it like a concert? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 06:41, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's like a concert, but the textbook definition is a revue. Revue's are usually italicized. | helpdןǝɥ | 12:35, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I guess you are right but what about this? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 12:44, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Even modern revues of this nature (such as Celine Dion's) are italicized too. I suggest the same for both. | helpdןǝɥ | 12:45, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lead
  • "was released as from November 21, 2011." replace "as from" to "on"
Fashion and stage
  • Was this copied from the source? "Tina Knowles-penned metallic dress showed off her curves and demanded the audiences attention once she is seen on stage"
Concert
  • Delink Michael Jackson
  • "past Destiny's Child hits," borders WP:OR
  • "reveales that she wanted to write a song" sentence is in both present-tense and past-tense tone, pick one only
  • No need for the Windows retro quotes on Edge of Seventeen
  • "which contained both men and women fliping their to" flipping what?
  • Delink "1+1" (second instance)
  • "before following a heavily choreographed version of" can you further explain on what it took for the songs' dance to be labeled "heavily choreographed"
Critical reception
Broadcast
  • Delink Walmart
  • "Worldwide as from" what?
  • "in the US and worldwide" just say worldwide

Please fix these issues. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:55, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
