Merger

[edit]

The 585th Tactical Missile Group was consolidated with the 485th Bombardment Group to form the 485th Tactical Missile Wing. Little enough in either article to justify standing alone in this circumstance. --Lineagegeek (talk) 20:42, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Matador and Mace

[edit]

There is no reference for the conversion of the group from Matador to Mace missiles. Ravenstein, Charles A. (1984). Air Force Combat Wings, Lineage & Honors Histories 1947-1977 (PDF). Washington, DC: Office of Air Force History. ISBN 0-912799-12-9. indicates that the 38th Tactical Missile Wing began operating Maces in 1960, but also continued to use Matadors until 1962. The L&H statement for the 485th shows only the Matador as equipment for the 585th Group. The 71st Squadron continued missile operations until 1969 and certainly converted to the Mace, but did it do so before transfer from the 585th?--Lineagegeek (talk) 21:18, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
