[edit]The 470th MI BDE is a major army intelligence command holding the same relevance as the 513th MI BDE, 501st MI BDE, 66th MI BDE and 500th MI BDE. It is in fact the hub for Army intelligence in the US Army's Southern Command and more broadly to SOUTHCOM.CrucibleX (talk) 11:14, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
- Don't agree that the unit is not notable. The article could be better written. One source documenting the unit's existence is here. Worth noting that it may be difficult for article editors to find a lot of information about an intelligence unit, so the article may remain small. W. B. Wilson (talk) 16:53, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
- Look up WP:MILUNIT. as well as WP:OTHERSTUFF. "As for any subject on Wikipedia, presumption of notability for a military unit or formation depends wholly on the existence of significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject." All this article states is that the unit is an MI Brigade under a MACOM. Congrats. The unit's notability must be apparent, if all details are classified, we can't have an article without reputable sources. The Inscom link is not independent of the source, we need widespread third part reporting on something the unit has done. The unit is of a correct size to be notable according to the guideline, but it must also be notable. Sephiroth storm (talk) 02:57, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- Why "congrats"? I don't much care -- but if like articles such as 66th Military Intelligence Brigade exist, then why not one about what is a "sister" unit of the 66th? They're the same thing, just under different commands. Your contention that these units are not notable is a broader issue than simply this article -- the decision about notability of these units should be made for all units of this type and the MILHIST forum is probably a better place to get a decision than a single article talk page. - Strongly oppose. The unit has a long and significant history dating to World War II. Presently, the article is basically a stub and needs expansion. Bwmoll3 (talk) 10:08, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
I agree. This should be expanded. And they should fix their homepage so that the warning pop-up doesn't lock my browser on my 11 inch screen. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.68.3.205 (talk) 19:16, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
