Collision with German Fighter
[edit]The entry regarding the type of German Fighter that collided with the B-17 All AMERICAN on 1 February 1943, was a ME-109..not a FW-190. There is an erroneous article on the Story of All American..the errors are that the aircraft on return to base was crossing the English Chammel escorted by P-51s..this is NOT factual as the B -17 All American returned to it's base at Biskra, Algeria. (The English Channel was at least a 16 hour flight from N.Africa, by way of Marrakech, and Tunis)..the B-17 could not possibly have returned to England..for two reasons..first, the 97th BG was transferred to N.Afica in October 1942. Second, the above mentioned flight time from England to N.Africa.
Source..The account in the Official 97th BG Hiatory "Venit Hora-The Hour has Come" pp 79-80. Taylor Publishing Company Dallas,Texas.
The above comment was removed from the article and posted here. Will edit image caption to avoid conflict.--Lineagegeek (talk) 20:27, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
