Episode title
[edit]Episode titles are not chosen by accident. It can often by helpful to explain the meaning of the episode title. I think it is important to explain the episode title in plain English and have attempted to do so in the Production section. I also know that some editors react negatively and delete anything that does not include a reference at the end of every sentence. This note is to pre-emptively refute the idea that explaining things in plain English requires a reliable source, or constitutes original research, it does not.
Having said that it may require rewording, because it is difficult to strike the right balance between explaining fully and not being too verbose or pedantic. These are all English words but readers with English as their second language or even native speakers not familiar with computer terminology might find some of this to be opaque. For some readers it may as well be written in Latin, because technically it is.
The episode title "407 Proxy Authentication Required" is an error code from HTTP, the Hypertext protocol, the underlying rules of how Web pages work. The 4xx series of errors are client or user side errors. The 407 error means that the user must authenticate or login before they can go any further. The user must log in with a proxy, which means an intermediary, another computer system, before they are allowed to access the requested page.
When the title is explained in greater detail I hope it becomes clearer to readers, and they can more easily infer that there is something Elliot must do first before he can move forward. Stating that last part explicitly without a reliable source might be considered original research but clearly explaining the episode title in plain English is not original research. -- 109.78.202.191 (talk) 16:11, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
