Synthesis section moved here

[edit]

I have moved the following reaction here from the article because something doesn't seem right to me:

Ph2CO2 + Cyclohexane → (HOC6H4)2CO in the presence of MeSO3H as a catalyst and with a reflux of 10 hours.

What chemical is Ph2CO2? I can't figure out the intented connectivity. And what role does cyclohexane play in this reaction? Is it just a solvent? -- Ed (Edgar181) 17:56, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

References need to be improved - use the cite.php format and {{cite journal}} or {{cite web}} templates to help you. As it stands now, the references are pretty meaningless and I'm removing them. --Rifleman 82 (talk) 16:16, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pulled from Uses

[edit]

I pulled the sentence below from "Uses" on the page because it's unclear. Besides the grammatical problems, what's CHone and what's the product whose subsequent aceylation gives Cyclofenil? Didn't want to just delete it, though. KeeYou Flib (talk) 19:12, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

McMurry reaction between CHone and p,p′-dihydroxybenzophenone, and subsequent acetylation gives Cyclofenil.
