I'll get to this shortly.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 12:12, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • No DABs
    • What is DAB?
      • A disambiguation link, where an editor has not specified his exact meaning when multiple possibilities exist.
        • OK, thanks.
  • Be consistent within paragraphs about either spelling out numbers or using digits for the same sorts of things
    • I use the convention to spell out number quantities 1-9 and use digits for 10 or more, which a Wikipedia editor once insisted that I follow. If it's something else, please be specific. Thanks.
      • See bullet #5 of MOS:NUMNOTES: "Comparable values should be all spelled out or all in figures, even if one of the numbers would normally be written differently: patients' ages were five, seven, and thirty-two or ages were 5, 7 and 32, but not ages were five, seven and 32."
        •  Done: Used all numbers or all spelled-out in lists.
  • Geographic places like city, state, need a trailing comma
    • Please give me one example where it's wrong. Thanks.
      • See MOS:GEOCOMMA
        •  Done: Added commas after City, State. I've never heard of this one before!
          • I was caught out like this my very own self.
  • the troops took part reads oddly, perhaps "the unit"
    •  Done: Replaced "troops" with "unit".
  • They marched 15 mi marched or rode?
    •  Done: Changed to rode.
  • link Bayou Boef
    •  Done: Add link: Boeuf River
  • but the 1st Mississippi (AD) had seen its first combat seems redundant
    •  Done: Removed redundant clause.
  • Suggest using "garrison duty" for some of the time that the unit wasn't on campaign
    •  Done: Used "garrison duty".
  • eight officers and men killed and 10 men wounded Why break out the officers among the dead, but not among the wounded?
    •  Not done The only source (and I just re-checked it) for this data lists it this way.
      • Interesting, but OK
  • from Vicksburg to Memphis from Vicksburg
    •  Done: Removed extra "from Vicksburg".
  • , the largest unit. awkward
    •  Done: Rewrote sentence.
  • Not sure that the officer section is really all that useful; it's just a laundry list of names and fates
    •  Done: Removed Officers section. Majors moved to Formation section. Cook's promotion to Lt Col & officers KIA moved to relevant text. Rest is deleted.
  • I'm surprised that the casualty toll is so low, but I'd suggest summarizing the table instead
    •  Not done I'd prefer to keep the table. I added a qualifier (According to Official...). Note2 warns that it may not match data given in the text.
  • Don't shorten months
    •  Done: Change Mar. to March in table.
  • Only use ranks and first names on first mention
    •  Done: The one exception is "Major Cook" when he assumes command of the regiment.
