Table vs. List Format

[edit]

Please do not remove the table format in favor of a List format without a consensus vote. It took half a day for me to do the original table. Most awards pages have a table of nominees and winners. Thanks. — WylieCoyote (talk) 20:48, 5 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I certainly dont wanna step on any toes or try to undo all your work, so what if i kept it in table form but changed the headers? its better for naviagation but it would keep everything in table format, only the headers would change and theyd only change position. sound do-able? Like you did with 84th Academy Awards and, again, without asking first on its talk page??? I think the more sections that you add, the longer the page is and, thus, the load times for some PCs. The point I'm trying to simply make is: ask before you do a major edit. As for section separation, I vote "no". It navigates just fine. If visitors can't find "Best Whatever" in a table, that's their problem. — WylieCoyote (talk) 22:59, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, like i did with the Academy Awards and I didnt know I had to ASK to make an edit if I thought it was for the better of the page. Plus that was a month ago. Also, I dont see why it's a problem if all it is, is just simplifying how people find certain categories? It's not taking away any of the information you put into it and so what if it makes a page longer? Not from an information stand point, its just a different look to the tables. For discussion purposes: Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Tables#Appropriate. WylieCoyote (talk) 23:24, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Major edits like that should be discussed, again, in my opinion. I'm all for navigation ease, but most award pages are just too long for lists, which I personally think this one would be, too. Headers for the media (film, television, other), then subheaders for the individual categories then four-to-ten nominees stretch the page too far south for my tastes, even if a TOC has it entered. (For example, imagine 2012 Teen Choice Awards in list form.) The above wikilink states: "Before you format a list in table form, consider whether the information will be more clearly conveyed by virtue of having rows and columns." So it's navigation vs. portrayal. In retrospect, lists ARE easier to do more than tables, but tables tighten up the page. My vote has been logged and this is the end of my discussion as I have other pages needing attention. — WylieCoyote (talk) 23:24, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

IMDb references 2 - 8.

[edit]

IMDb is not the most reliable source to cite from, but I guess it's okay to list these seven, as I'm sure most awards lists on Wiki come from there. A more reliable magazine or news source is preferable. I wish the Saturn Awards website was organized like most sites where you can click and find the complete list for the movies. — WylieCoyote (talk) 02:02, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
