[edit]So the secondary is Thorondor? (Eönwë would have nicely paralleled with Ilmarë being the moon of Varda, but this works nicely too.) Double sharp (talk) 15:16, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
Manwe is not a "deity." In Tolkien's mythos, the only deity was Eru. Manwe was more of the chief demi-urge. He was not really king of anything either, as the Valar were a cooperative group of demi-urges rather than a king and his subjects. At best, you might consider him the oldest brother or cousin.Ooze2b (talk) 22:15, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
Upcoming Stellar Occultation
[edit]In September 2024, Manwe-Thorondor will pass Infront of a star at stellar coordinates 00h14m49.5566s, -01°06'21.901". Could this perhaps be added to the article? I'd do it myself by I'm not sure how exactly to cite "I asked Mike Kretlow if any occultations were coming up soon". The exact time is September 18, 2024, 19:01:12 UT, and the transit path begins slightly east of Hokkaido, then going across the planet through China, Northern Bangladesh, India, then through Uganda, both Congo-Kinshasa and Congo-Brazzaville, then South Gabon before going into the Atlantic and ending. the average predicted occultation duration is 6.7 seconds (Though this assumes a spherical shape which is almost certainly not the case). If anyone could help out and add this into the article that would be incredibly helpful!

- @P1X3LZIMMY: I'm afraid that your statement about "I asked Mike Kretlow if any occultations were coming up soon" qualifies as private communication or original research, which is not allowed for Wikipedia articles. Luckily for you, I've found an online source for this occultation, so it's fine to mention it in this article now. Nrco0e (talk) 21:58, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
