Editing 37 Battalion (SWATF) information
[edit]I have recently compiled a book on 102BN which covers the history of the unit from start to closure. Content was submitted by numerous authors that were there. I would like to correct the current information as well as the emblem as there are a number of inaccuracies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DeonvL (talk • contribs) 11:34, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
- @DeonvL: if you're referring to ""Ovita Mozondundu" - War In The Mountains by Deon Van Loggerenberg", that would beg the question if you, based on your username, are the author of this book. For the record: I am not asking you if you are and you do not need to disclose if you are here on this page. The reason I say bring it up is because of a potential conflict of interest (COI). I will add a COI template to your user talkpage. Please read through it and along with the linked COI guidelines, and if you still have any questions, then you contact the help desk for additional assistance. - wolf 12:03, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
- I am not quite sure how to reply to your message....let me try. "Ovita Mozondundu" War in the Mountains is a COMPILATION of stories that served at 37 BN/ 102 BN, among others former officer commanding. The history of the Unit is in the book, the number of men that died is in the book, I am NOT the AUTHOR....I compiled the book, the authors are those whose stories are in there. The history as contained in the book is FACT, not fiction, and that is the part that I would like to put on Wikipedia because what you have is WRONG. The emblem/ unit logo you have is WRONG. If this does not assist in showing you of my intentions...well then nothing will and you continue to have the WRONG information on Wikipedia about the Unit. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DeonvL (talk • contribs) 08:27, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
- Do you have any other sources you can rely on, other than that one book? That would make this easier, as you could make whatever changes you feel appropriate and add the other source(s) in support, negating any possible conflict. Otherwise, I would suggest you list the corrections you seek here on the talk page, in a change "x" to "y" format, and include the page/quote from the "Ovita Mozondundu" source. Otherwise, as you've already seen, adding or changing content on WP without a source is likely to be challenged. Couple of final notes; we can read you comments just fine, there is no need to add words in ALL CAPS, and please see the message left on your talk page about correctly signing your posts. (And see WP:INDENT as well). Thanks - wolf 13:24, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
