Merger
[edit]These two units have been the same unit since 1985. Per WP:MILMOS#UNITNAME An article about a unit, formation, or base should be placed at the official name used by the armed forces to which the unit or base belongs. When a unit or base has had multiple names over the course of its existence, the title should generally be the last name used. Moreover, the current 340th Fighter Squadron article isn't about the 340th at all, it is about the 341st Fighter Squadron. --Lineagegeek (talk) 19:35, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
- From the one reference, it looks like the two squadrons had essentially identical service histories; both formed and working together perhaps? See: Maurer, Maurer, ed. (1982) [1969].
