I will review. ★★King•Retrolord★★ 09:44, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
Article seems pretty good, but a few questions below.
- Does ref [8] cover the whole list beneath it?
- yes, rather than repeat the citation on each line, I placed it after the colon to signify it relates to the whole list.
- "In mountainous terrain, the SS Volunteer Karstwehr Battalion relied on horses to transport mountain guns and other supplies." Ref?
- Hmmm. Not sure about that one, I have modified the caption to fit the source of the image.
- Images are good.
Thanks, ★★King•Retrolord★★ 09:58, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review! Any other improvements you think are needed? Regards, Peacemaker67 (send... over) 12:22, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi Peacemaker. I will complete the review, as Retrolord is blocked. I have taken the liberty of doing some copy edits, I hope you don't mind. Here's some points I need help on:
- Is it reasonably well written?
- A. Prose: clear and concise, correct spelling and grammar:
- The company was formed at the Dachau concentration camp Is this referring to the SS training centre near the KZ?
- I have never heard of SS geological detachments. Is there any info available on this type of unit, and if so, is it worthwhile to add a bit of explanation here?
- I have capitalised German nouns (Gebirgsjäger, Kampfgruppe) which I think is the usual practice
- Your units need to all be in italics, or none in italics. (SS-Standartenführer is not presently in italics, but Reichsführer-SS is). The preferred way is SS not italicised and the remainder of the rank italicised (SS-Brigadeführer)
- B. Complies with MoS for lead, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation:
- A. Provides references to all sources:
- All material is sourced with elegantly formatted citations
- B. Provides in-line citations from reliable sources where necessary:
- Sources are high quality texts, some too-close paraphrasing issues were found when spot checks were done:
- The idea of raising the unit came from a noted geographer and caving specialist, SS-Standartenführer (Colonel) Hans Brandt. This is too close to the source material, and needs to be paraphrased. How about "SS-Standartenführer (Colonel) Hans Brandt, a geologist and speleologist, suggested creation of the unit."
- It quickly gained a reputation for shooting partisan suspects. This is too close to the source material (only one word has been changed). It needs to be paraphrased to allay copyright concerns. How about "The unit became known for shooting suspected partisans." Or this sentence could be omitted altogether, as their main assignment was anti-partisan work?
- Sources are high quality texts, some too-close paraphrasing issues were found when spot checks were done:
- C. No original research:
- A. Prose: clear and concise, correct spelling and grammar:
- Is it broad in its coverage?
- A. Main aspects are addressed:
- B. Remains focused:
- A. Main aspects are addressed:
- Does it follow the neutral point of view policy?
- Fair representation without bias:
- Fair representation without bias:
- Is it stable?
- No edit wars, etc:
- No edit wars, etc:
- Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
- A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
- B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
- Two images, both properly licensed
- A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
- Overall:
- Pass or Fail:
The article has been placed on hold for one week to allow time to resolve these concerns. Thank you for another interesting and informative article. -- Diannaa (talk) 18:38, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Diannaa, thanks for picking this one up and for the c/e! I believe I have addressed all your comments, my edit are here. I've also linked the book locations for consistency and expanded on the Waffen-SS geological corps and its role (and added a ref for it). - Thank you for your prompt attention to the review. Passing to GA-class. -- Diannaa (talk) 02:24, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
