Tongyik
[edit]Been removed from the team list on the club website and his 2 year contract would have expired at the end of last season.
Should be be removed from the squad list on here? Ausfootballfan (talk) 15:26, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
- The problem with basing only on contract length is that sometimes there are extensions (usually trigger-based) which aren't reported in a timely (if at all) matter. The club websites aren't always most updated either. --SuperJew (talk) 15:32, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
- Just on the club website thing, all of the players that have departed the club (bar Younis who is on loan), have been removed from the team page.
- The club store also does hero prints for each player and Tongyik is not included there either while all the new signings have been included. Ausfootballfan (talk) 14:23, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
- Common sense agrees with you, Wikipedia bureaucracy a bit less and could call it WP:OR. BTW, I'm not really siding here either way, just putting the things on the table. Personally, I'd prefer a clear source saying he's left, but I wouldn't revert you if you made the change. --SuperJew (talk) 18:14, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- His contract is on a Football Australia no fault interim suspension. While he can't play or participate in football/club related activity his registration is still owned by the Wanderers and as such he has not been "transferred out", and should remain included in the list of Wanderers players and not inaccurately placed in the list of players released by the club, because this has not happened. Note, this is different to the Davila situation at Macarthur because Davila and the club agreed to "mutually" terminate his contract and Kearyn Baccus had already been released, so their no-fault suspensions prevent them from being contracted anywhere. Clatyon Lewis is in the same circumstance as Tongyik, contracted still while under the no fault suspension and his registration remains at the Bulls. - But Tongyik signed a two-year deal in July 2022, so unless he extended (which we don't know as I haven't seen any mention of it anywhere) he's not contracted for 2024–25 anyways. --SuperJew (talk) 10:52, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- Suspended contract. Macktheknifeau (talk) 11:46, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- I'd say the sentence and source you added now Macktheknifeau would be more appropriate to add to 2023–24 Western Sydney Wanderers FC season. --SuperJew (talk) 10:55, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
