Start day for the Bruins
[edit]Someone said that the first game for the Bruins is going to be on Monday. Just a heads up. Mastergerwe97 (talk) 20:33, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
- Awesome! Do you have a source from NHL.com? Conyo14 (talk) 21:54, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
- Anything needs to be official on nhl.com. Not rumours on blogs or social media, per WP:BLOGS and WP:SOCIALMEDIA. If that was the case, I would have added by now why the league is currently having a hard time trying to schedule Games 3 and 4 of the second round. That Edmonton's Rogers Place already booked Shania Twain concerts on May 5-6. That Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena already scheduled a Rauw Alejandro concert on May 6 and a Seattle Storm preseason game on May 9. And the Florida may have conflicts with the Miami Grand Prix this weekend, as well as Panthers owner Vincent Viola wanting to instead concentrate his attention on the horse that he owns, Forte, who is one of the current favorites to win the 2023 Kentucky Derby on May 6. Zzyzx11 (talk) 17:29, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Since my previous comment, a Yahoo Sports! article on it, if anybody wants to add it. Zzyzx11 (talk) 19:09, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hasn't the scheduling always been a regular issue? I mean, maybe it's worse considering TNT and ESPN both carry the NBA playoffs. Still, the rescheduling of a game due to the NHL and NBA or the stadiums (not a random event), seems like it's not totally noteworthy for Wikipedia. Conyo14 (talk) 22:44, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- I think the potential notable issue in this case, as also noted in this AP article, is that the league initially announced that Game 2 of EDM-VGK was to take place on Friday, May 5 (and thus we noted that in this version of our article as well) Two days later, the league moved EDM-VGK to Saturday, May 6. And as reported in those articles, the league initially wanted TOR-FLA on May 6, but the Panthers refused because of the Miami Grand Prix and the Miami Heat. And so EDM-VGK was moved to Saturday so their would be at least one game in the traditional Hockey Night in Canada slot. In the meantime, a number of Oilers fans had already booked travel plans to Vegas, and once finding out the scheduling change had to eat the cancellation/re-scheduling fees. Zzyzx11 (talk) 23:32, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- I suppose that's fair, but where it would be mentioned, in the media section or the series recap or both? Conyo14 (talk) 00:36, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
- Maybe both, brief mention in the series recap and more detailed information in the media section. Deadman137 (talk) 01:30, 7 May 2023 (UTC)

I have added a paragraph in the media section regarding this issue. Please reword or add info as you please, I don't know how I'm going to sum this up in the series recap. Conyo14 (talk) 06:14, 7 May 2023 (UTC)

The bracket incorrectly says the Vegas Golden Knights eliminatef the Edmonton Oilers in 5 games 4-1. Needs to be corrected to show it was 6 games, Oilers lost 4-2. Thanks! Markslagle (talk) 13:36, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
- It is correct now, I may have misread or someone corrected it, sorry if my mistake. Markslagle (talk) 13:42, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
No Round 1 sweep
[edit]Can anyone put a sentence or two on the article stating that no team swept their first round opponent? Obinsenti (talk) 00:47, 19 May 2023 (UTC)
- Probably not, the last time that we mentioned something like this was when there were no sweeps throughout the entire playoffs. The last time that there were no sweeps in a round with 16 teams was in 2020, so it is not that rare of an occurrence. Deadman137 (talk) 03:39, 19 May 2023 (UTC)
Conference Finals, capitalise or don't
[edit]It appears we've got mixed results, concerning hockey pages. The Feb 2023 RM for NHL Conference Finals says to capitalise. However, a recent RFC at WP:HOCKEY, says (basically) to use "Conference finals" and "conference finals". We've got possible mixed signals here. GoodDay (talk) 02:29, 9 June 2023 (UTC)
- Here is the list of what the league has trademarked. [1] The league does have NHL Eastern/Western Conference Final trademarked. Deadman137 (talk) 02:34, 9 June 2023 (UTC)
- We took off "Finals" for terms of the Stanley Cup Finals. We did not, however, discuss "conference." I'd imagine it would be the same outcome if another RM were to open (remain capitalized). So, by the RfC, it should be lowercased "finals" for "Conference finals." Conyo14 (talk) 02:37, 9 June 2023 (UTC)
