Overall: The topic of the hook is fine, and either hook could probably work, but I'm wondering if there's a better way of wording it just to tighten it up a bit and highlight the jacket a bit more. Maybe something like "Dana Holgorsen coached Houston in the 2022 Independence Bowl wearing a jacket that honoured his late coach and mentor, Mike Leach"? Turnagra (talk) 04:57, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Turnagra: I like that approach, I'll tweak a little so we don't have to get another reviewer in here to approve. How's this? PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 06:24, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- ALT2: ... that Dana Holgorsen coached Houston in the 2022 Independence Bowl while wearing a jacket that honored Mike Leach, his late coach and mentor?
- @PCN02WPS: That looks good to me - though you've already got ALT1 further up. I've changed it to ALT2 and stricken the other ones, should be all good to go for ALT2 now. Good work on the article! Turnagra (talk) 06:32, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Good catch, thank you! PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 06:37, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- @PCN02WPS and Turnagra: I really wanted to promote this, but I'm getting stuck on whether Winners and Whiners really is a reliable source. Is there any way to replace it with another source? Cielquiparle (talk) 12:08, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Cielquiparle: does this one work? [2] PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 15:39, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- PCN02WPS I wasn't sure, so I went ahead and replaced Winners and Whiners with Washington Post (Online) via ProQuest (which you should be able to view via Wikipedia Library).
- Happy to see this promoted now by someone other than me! Cielquiparle (talk) 23:48, 13 January 2023 (UTC)

GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
I Will review this. The C of E God Save the King! (talk) 09:29, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
- Here's the review:
- In the lead, it shoudl clarify this is American football. "College football" isn't clear to people who don't follow American sports (indeed as someone British, I initially thought university association football).
- Reworded to "an American college football bowl game"; if this is still unclear I can change it more. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 16:08, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
- The cite for the time should be at the end of the sentence as per WP:INLINE
- Moved. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 16:08, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
- The second paragraph in the lead should be a summary but it reads like a report
- Why the mention of the Army? Why is it normally associated with them, did they create it?
- "Army" here refers to the common name for the football team that represents the United States Military Academy, the Army Black Knights. College football bowl games have tie-ins, which are agreements between the bowl game and an athletic conference which allows a team from that conference to compete in that game at the conclusion of every season. Since Army is an independent team, and therefore not a member of a conference for football, the tie-in is made directly with the team in this case. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 16:08, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
- Both teams need a cite for their season records.
- Added. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 18:07, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
- Why were Louisiana's wins vacated?
- Added reason. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 16:08, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
- Were the Houston State hoodies because Leach was working for Miss State at the time?
- Yes, Leach was the head coach at Mississippi State at the time of his death. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 16:08, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
- In game summary, Conference USA has already been linked earlier so shouldn't be linked here per WP:OLINK
- Removed link. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 16:08, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
- Only print media reference publisher names should be in italics
- References 1, 2 and 6: incomplete reference publisher name
- In the lead, it shoudl clarify this is American football. "College football" isn't clear to people who don't follow American sports (indeed as someone British, I initially thought university association football).
- Otherwise @PCN02WPS:, it looks in fairly good shape. Ping me once the above mentioned are sorted and I will have another look. The C of E God Save the King! (talk) 12:59, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

[edit]The C of E, PCN02WPS, where does this review stand? It's been over six weeks since the last post here and edit to the article. Can we get things moving again? Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:52, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Bluemoonset: I was waiting for @PCN02WPS:'s ping, since there hasn't been one, I'll give him another 24 hours before I'll look at it again and pass judgement. The C of E God Save the King! (talk) 04:57, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- @The C of E and BlueMoonset: Wow, this totally fell off my radar. Thanks very much for the reminder ping. I've gone through and addressed what I didn't get to before I forgot about this one (sorry about that!); the only thing listed above that I haven't taken care of are the last two bullet points (about the referencing style), which I don't believe are covered by the GA criteria. I'll take care of those eventually but I have some travel coming up shortly and I wanted to get the required stuff fixed with the time that I do have right now. Thanks again for the reminder and for the review! PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 02:31, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- Excellent work. I can finally pass this now. The C of E God Save the King! (talk) 07:43, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- @The C of E Thanks a ton for your patience, I apologize for the long wait. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 13:58, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
