Talk:2021 Stanley Cup Finals
Appearance
Per the discussion in 2008 and an RFC in 2016, consensus is for all the Stanley Cup series articles to have "FinalS", with an "S" at the end, in the article title. Per the policy on article titles, Wikipedia uses the name that is most frequently used to refer to the subject in English-language reliable sources, NOT the NHL's official preference (see also Wikipedia's guidelines on formatting trademarks and essay on using official names). Creation of 2021 Stanley Cup Finals page
[edit]Should the 2021 Stanley Cup Finals page be created to just show general information about the topic, while being updated as the Finals come along? Newfiebluejay (talk) 20:37, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- It already exists, we just don't do anything with it until it's time to start working on it. Once both participants are determined this article gets filled in and at that point it has our full attention. Deadman137 (talk) 01:24, 2 June 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Just curious, who was the last player to appear in three consecutive Finals? Or win three in a row? Jmj713 (talk) 15:49, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- Marian Hossa was in three consecutive (2008–2010). To win three consecutive though? That would probably be back in New York's dynasty. I'm not entirely sure though. Conyo14 (talk) 16:37, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- I can't find anyone either that played on a championship team in the year prior to or after and then played for the Oilers, Penguins or Red Wings when they each won their back to back titles. So it likely does go back to the Islanders dynasty. Deadman137 (talk) 20:07, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- If we can find a source, would be a nice achievement to highlight. Jmj713 (talk) 23:03, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- The Islanders dynasty is likely the last to have players on three or more consecutive Cup championships. GoodDay (talk) 23:53, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
Stanley Cup engraving
[edit]Deadman137: "Template:Stanley Cup champion" uses "centers" and not "centres" so now the listed players are not visible in that section after you restored my edit. You can look yourself: 2021 Stanley Cup Finals#Players. DIEXEL (talk) 17:55, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- Actually it doesn't do that at all and the players are visible. Now if you have an issue with the English variant used in all Stanley Cup playoffs and Finals articles that's a problem that you'll have to deal with on your own because the consensus is to use Canadian English in these articles. Deadman137 (talk) 03:15, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
- Deadman137: I see that you changed the code in the template and fixed all the pages which using the template. Thank you for fixing that so we don't have this problem in future articles. That's what I meant when I started the discussion, that the template used the code "centers" and not "centres" to show the centres (e.g. stamkos and point) which was not visible in the article before my edit. The centres became again not visible when you restored the edit and that's why I wanted to make you aware of it on this talk page. DIEXEL (talk) 10:53, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
