Player Infobox Stats and Summer Championship Division

[edit]

Should we include stats from the Summer Championship Division in player's infoboxes? This is a unique situation this year, since this division was created primarily for teams who couldn't commit to the full season (since the season was originally supposed to end by Labour Day), since its not a true "reserve division" (which doesn't get included) but is like an alternate top division (which does get included). This would affect players such as Nicholas Osorio, Nikola Stakic (both of Alliance United), Tristan Marshall (Toronto Skillz), etc. who are playing in this division. Part of me is inclined to include it because it's like an alternate top division and another part says no due to the presence of some non-L1O main division teams (ie. Whitecaps London). Thoughts? Pinging some Canadian footy editors who edit L1O/CPL/MLS Canadian articles to see if any of you had thoughts about this @Cristane, Blaixx, QQ2NFLD, Shermanator7, and Walter Görlitz:. Thank you for any input. RedPatch (talk) 17:57, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting situation. My concern is that it's not fully professional if it's called the "University Division". Any more details on this? We may need to include details in a table, but not the infobox. Walter Görlitz (talk) 19:57, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Infobox doesn't require fully professional, just being on the national pyramid. For example, League1 Ontario, USL League Two, English divisions tier five and below all get included in the infobox despite not being semi-pro not fully pro. "University Division" was never officially named by the league, it was a placeholder unofficial name. Name was only acknowledged as "Summer Championship". I would think those stats should be counted, since this division was a one year solution to have flexible L1O seasons during the pandemic. The clubs in question (Alliance United, Toronto Skillz) are typically in the L1O division, not reserves. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shermanator7 (talkcontribs) 01:16, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There's also clubs such as Toronto FC III, which is not an official member, with players such as Hugo Mbongue. Include those too? RedPatch (talk) 15:10, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm leaning towards no just based on the composition of teams in the University division. BLAIXX 22:40, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
