2020 Copa América → 2021 Copa América – CONMEBOL, the tournament organizer is now refering to the tournament as 2021 Copa América or Copa América 2021. They also updated the logo to clearly display "2021" on the official website.[1] Unlike other delayed sports events that may retain their 2020 branding, it is clear at this point that the next Copa America will be branded as 2021. - Support per above, the logo of the page should be updated to the 2021 edition as updated on the CONMEBOL official page as well. UltraBlazer 17:11, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support per above.--Faisal talk 20:13, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Comment. I thought CONMEBOL wanted to turn the competition quadrennial and thus give Copa América some needed order—in my opinion a very good fact. No news they have failed, and continue to poorly set tournaments without any seemigly reasonable rule (regardless of coronavirus—"Copa América 2020" would have been fine). —Foghe (talk) 18:34, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support – branding has changed to 2021 on CONMEBOL's official Copa América website. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 03:30, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support. Per official sources, though CONMEBOL has not declared and applied this change properly yet. Centaur271188 (talk) 00:30, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support – Since the branding has updated to use 2021 instead of 2020 reflecting the postponement of the tournament, the page should also reflect that change. Although not all CONMEBOL sources have updated as far as I have seen so far, considering changes to the tournament name and branding has happened, I expect further future uses will now have 2021 used. I guess this will make the shift to a quadrennial tournament now happen more gradually, with a 2 then 3 year gap instead of a 1 then 4 year gap between tournaments. boldblazer 05:13, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

Logo image
[edit]If it's changed now, shouldn't the older logo image in the info box be removed and deleted from wikipedia now? Govvy (talk) 07:55, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

Best Players
[edit]CONMEBOL before the final match officially announced the best players of the tournament. The best players were Messi and Neymar. They left a statement. I'll give the official source. Why there is only Messi's name in the article?
Statement and a secondary source as a proof. Ken Tony Shall we discuss? 09:22, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
Pinging Mattythewhite. Ken Tony Shall we discuss? 09:33, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Ken Tony: The sources you cite above do indeed name both Messi and Neymar, while the source in the article, also from tournament official website, names only Messi. So I'm not sure what's going on there. Mattythewhite (talk) 14:43, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
- Mattythewhite, The one which you mentioned was released after the match. In the first statement, which I mentioned above, they clearly mentions that both are the best players of the the tournament and it will be shared. They also mentioned that it is published after analysing both the players. They also made a tweet about this. The second source, which I mentioned also says the same. Not only these two, a lot of other secondary sources in the internet says that the award is shared. The trophy was with Messi due to the his goal contributions. As there is an official source saying that the award is for both of them, I think it is okay to include Neymar's name to the column. What is your stand? I pinged you because I thought you would be the best person to discuss this matter with. Ken Tony Shall we discuss? 14:58, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Ken Tony: The one I linked to is more recent, and states, when translated, that Messi was the "undisputed most outstanding footballer of the tournament". Perhaps they changed their minds after Argentina won in the final? You could raise it at WT:FOOTY for more opinions. Mattythewhite (talk) 15:14, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

- @Mattythewhite: The condition is a bit confusing. I will try to make a consensus in WT:FOOTY. Thank you. Ken Tony Shall we discuss? 15:20, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
443asr (talk) 10:21, 15 July 2021 (UTC) The first news where it was mention that both Messi & Neymar are the top performers of the tournament by technical team. I repeat it was published by the technical team who are not a part of the main selection method. So don't be confused. The award is not shared with Neymar. ::::@Mattythewhite: :::@Ken Tony:
Yes the award is not shared It is only given to messi and the official Copa America website has literally stated it that messi is the player of the tournament Also the official Copa America 2021 twitter/instagram page has mentioned that messi is the winner of POTT It is not shared Uts10 (talk) 10:35, 4 September 2021 (UTC)
