Party affiliations

[edit]

As mentioned in my edit summaries, I do not believe listing party affiliations is appropriate for Icelandic presidential elections. Candidates do not run as party candidates (this report from the 2020 elections states "While political parties are not prohibited from nominating or supporting candidates, all parties met with by the ODIHR NAM stated that they do not plan to participate in the campaign, viewing the election as a non-partisan contest"), and as far as I am aware, affiliations are not mentioned on the ballot paper. Just because someone is a member of a party, it does not mean they are the candidate of that party, and (in response to the edit summaries) just because there is no constitutional prohibition on having party candidates, it does not mean that the elections are not non-partisan in practice.
