Closed doors

[edit]

@Island92: I have put the article back to the way it was before we started reverting each other over how best to describe matches being held behind closed doors so that neither of us breaks WP:3RR. I think it would be best at this point to discuss it and try and find a consensus, whatever that may be. It shouldn't be included as a citation because it misleading looks like it's a source for the attendance rather than an explanation for why there were no supporters. As an alternative to that, it should be clearly described in the article prose so I can understand why you would want to include it for each round as currently, it is only described above the results sections so in future when people visit the page they may miss the reason why the games were played behind closed doors. For that reason, I think it should be included in the prose at the start of each round similar to the information on draw dates and match dates. That would have it included at the top of the five different rounds so there would be no need to put a citation in 40 odd times (once the qualifiers are complete) to tell people something they already know. I would like to hear what you think (and anyone else) and I hope we can both keep an open mind when it comes to finding a solution. Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 19:50, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think we need to put a ref for each single match without people, as we are doing right here.--Island92 (talk) 19:53, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, that's a note rather than a citation so if we copy that style it isn't misleading. I think this season's article is different because we already know every game will have no supporters and it seems pointless to include it for every single game, last season is different because Covid-19 happened and most games were played with supporters in the stadium but if we copy that it adds a level of consistency and it removes the misleading citation. Ok, that's fine. I exepct the same edits even for Europa League qualifying pages.--Island92 (talk) 20:16, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
