Candidate image size

[edit]

@Number 57: please tell me why are you reverting the image sizes? You are telling setting the image sizes is imbalancing the images but actually the images in the infobox is being different in length is looking extremely bad and weird, hence making the length of all images same, changing the imaze size is indeed required otherwise the pictures look uneven in the infobox. Also if you can't use it then what is the parameter's purpose even? Ku423winz1 (talk) 13:09, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The infobox base code sets the images to 150px, so they are automatically sized the same. I've no idea what you are seeing, but when I look at the article now, they are now equal in size. When you added coding for Modi's image, it made it half the size of the Rahul Gandhi one. Number 57 13:12, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Number 57: I have also no idea what you are saying. Anyone simply looking at the page can see that length of the images are not equal and it is looking extremely weird. My device is also has no problem since I have looked at it through different devices. Ku423winz1 (talk) 15:09, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The infobox code automatically sets the sizes to 150px, which works and I can see they are equal (happy to put a screenshot up if you don't believe me). However, I am aware that infobox images sometimes display at odd sizes on mobile devices, and I can see from the tags of your edits that you are using a mobile device. This is a more fundamental issue with how Wikipedia displays on mobile devices, which you can't solve with coding here. Also, you don't have to ping me, as I have this page on my watchlist. Cheers, Number 57 15:13, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I manage my account on my android device but I also have a pc (in which I am not logged in) and visited this page, I cannot recognise any difference, the pictures are still unequal in lenght. I think we should share screenshots to know more about its reason. Ku423winz1 (talk) 16:10, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
PC view of the infobox
I would guess there could be something wrong with the browser on your PC. If the code didn't work properly there would be regular complaints about this happening as the default sizing is used on thousand of articles (and there aren't complaints). If I visit on my phone, they are unequal (although Modi's photo is only slightly larger than Gandhi's; I've seen much worse), but this is a mobile view issue. Oh okay. Thanks. Ku423winz1 (talk) 08:39, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Change leader photo

[edit]

Can we change the leader's photo to the president of the party of that time? Indian General Election is quiet different from any other general election like US General Election where citizen direct choose leader while in India Prime minister is chosen by the winning representative in the general election. e.g., 2024 Indian general election. ``राजकुमार(talk) 17:37, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@राजकुमार Prime Ministerial candidates were announced before the elections. It was clearly announced that elections were fought under their leadership. Don't see a good reason. It has always been an announced leader instead of party president. If PM candidate isn't announced then party president is added. ShaanSenguptaTalk 02:56, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Shaan Sengupta, The General Election of India does not fought for PM candidate directly like US. It is mostly based on representative of Members of Parliament. then from these members, PM is chosen by President of India. राजकुमार(talk) 03:45, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@राजकुमार would appreciate if you read the Indian Constitution. It says that the President is bound to choose the leader of the majority party in the house. The president is not free to choose any person of their choice unless there is a hung house. So PM is not chosen by president. President just appointees. Also untill the MPs are elected they can't chose their leader. Party choses under whose leadership it will fight the election. Here in the case of BJP it has chosen Narendra Modi. Hope this much is enough. If you want official words let me know. A UPSC qualifier like me can tell that too. This is just written in simple words to let you understand. ShaanSenguptaTalk 09:45, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps the parameter used in the infobox could be changed from "leader" to "nominee" or "candidate" (as is done for German elections)? Cheers, Number 57 10:44, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Shaan Sengupta, What if PM candidate lost the election while majority of candidate of party won election. @Number 57, I don't think we need to change the parameter.Afterall, PM is just an MP. you can also see that Shaan Sengupta's user page clearly mention that he is BJP follower so we can't expect any neutral point of view. राजकुमार(talk) 12:15, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@राजकुमार very good. You are so quick to judge. Anyway I have got nothing to explain to you if you have no valid points. Here I am not only asking Modi's image to be there but also of Rahul in 2019 page. And Modi and Kharge in 2024 page. If INC announces someone else as their candidate they will be added replacing Kharge. Also donot remove the status quo before dispute until this is resolved. I am reverting you. ShaanSenguptaTalk 15:48, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also that parameter is for the leader under which the party fought the elections. For PM there is a seperate parameter of before and after election at the bottom of the infobox table. ShaanSenguptaTalk 15:49, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Shaan Sengupta, How many times have I told you that the India General Election is different from the US election? Officially, the election doesn't happen PM posts directly like the US. Indian citizen only chooses MPs for their representation in Parliament. Then the party that has the majority of MPs chooses their leader for cabinet while this always happens after the election. Modi is the only face for the PM post by BJP(not NDA) for the public unofficially. राजकुमार(talk) 03:04, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@राजकुमार The image in infobox is of the leader under which the party is contesting the election. And the infobox source has clearly indication that it carries info of party and not alliance. You can see that by looking at the stats. Be it seats or vote percentage. It is of BJP & INC not of NDA & I.N.D.I.A. The given parameter is of leader not candidate. Even if it was candidate, Modi is officially declared so.
Now if you ask who is Amit Shah to declare or why should it be considered. Amit Shah is the NDA chairperson. ShaanSenguptaTalk 03:46, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Shaan Sengupta, Modi is unequivocally the BJP's candidate for PM, under the strong and capable leadership of JP Nadda. राजकुमार(talk) 03:22, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@राजकुमार still the leader is Modi and Nadda the president. That column is for the party leader. Even Nadda says that party is fighting under the leadership of Modi. See India needs stability, and it lies in Modi and BJP: J.P. Nadda. I have no issue with Nadda but there is a format. The party is fighting the election on the face of Modi as their leader. ShaanSenguptaTalk 04:57, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Shaan Sengupta It's is not about PM's face for upcoming election. PM is post for an MP who won the election under president of Party. राजकुमार(talk) 11:54, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New redirect

[edit]

Am not sure if this is the place to propose this, but can you add something where you're redirected to this after searching '2019 Lok Sabha elections'? Goodboy9796 (talk) 08:20, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Goodboy9796: Yes, a redirect to this article can be created using this phrase - 2019 Lok Sabha elections. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:37, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The popular vote section is wrong. The decimal mark is in a wrong place. 2600:6C44:117F:95BE:9155:F04F:F66:37A8 (talk) 01:22, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
