Remove Ben Cardin from the "Declared" section. "Declared" should only refer to candidates who have filed a Certificate of Candidacy with the Maryland State Board of Elections. The Maryland SBE website reads: A Certificate of Candidacy designating the individual as a candidate to appear on the Primary ballot for an elective office must be filed in person at the appropriate election office.[1] 64.26.99.248 (talk) 19:28, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose. This is an arbitrary restriction. According to news reports, Chelsea Manning has not yet filed with Maryland SBE, either. (The deadline is February 27, 2018.) Yet her candidacy has been formally declared with the Federal Election Commission. That should suffice in all cases. KalHolmann (talk) 20:01, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

Please remove Arvin Vohra from the Declared section, or add "Citation needed"
In order to appear on the ballot in Maryland, candidates must declare their candidacy with both the FEC and the Maryland SBE. While only 2 candidates on this page actually meet these requirements, there is a consensus that for a candidate to be listed as "Declared", they should have filed with at least one of the two government bodies. Arvin Vohra is the only candidate listed as "Declared" who has not filed with either the FEC or the MD SBE. 64.26.99.248 (talk) 21:19, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose. There is no such consensus on this talk page. 64.26.99.248 is clearly making a nuisance of himself. KalHolmann (talk) 21:26, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

Results boxes: Keep or remove?
[edit]Not really sure what to do with the empty results boxes. They were added to all the Senate election pages awhile back by another editor and someone keeps removing them without really explaining why they need to be removed. Other editors, including myself, have added them back, only to see them removed again. Do they belong, or should they be removed? This should be consistent for all the Senate election pages, whatever is decided. Tillerh11 (talk) 16:29, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
- Tillerh11, the empty results boxes were added to this article by Noncommittalp with two edits on 6 April 2018, at 10:43 and 10:46 respectively. They were removed by ALPolitico with two edits on 8 April 2018, at 07:32 and 07:33 respectively. In his edit summary, ALPolitico explained, "Don't include these until after the primary. It only encourages inexperienced editors to try and update live, causing headaches for numerous people." This is not the place to decide whether or not all Senate election pages should include such empty boxes. Unless you can cite a preexisting Wikipedia policy or guideline to that effect, please limit this discussion to United States Senate election in Maryland, 2018. That said, I agree with ALPolitico. It is pointless to clutter this article with empty boxes that are by design uninformative and potentially confusing—not just to inexperienced editors, but to all readers. Once election results are reported by WP:RS, we can restore and complete these boxes. Until then, leave them out. KalHolmann (talk) 21:10, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
- @KalHolmann and Tillerh11: I have no argument with ALPolitiico. My first edit because of no explaining. I wouldn't revert anymore. Noncommittalp (talk) 10:20, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
Tony Campbell needs a Photo
[edit]I feel it would be better to put a photo of the republican candidate on the page — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2606:A000:EEC2:1400:50D0:C6D9:AE80:D9FE (talk) 06:02, 30 June 2018 (UTC)
