Two infoboxes

Hi @Charles Essie and Number 57: what is your opinion for having 2 infoboxes for one election ? --Panam2014 (talk) 18:27, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

It's not uncommon and I have no particular objections. However, I do think it would be better to have a combined infobox that set out both the presidential candidates and seats won in the parliamentary vote (this is how it's done on fr.wiki). The best I've seen on en.wiki is the attempt at Costa Rican general election, 2010. What I'd like to see is something that combines {{Infobox election}} for the presidential candidate at the top and {{Infobox legislative election}} for the parliamentary result at the bottom. The template {{Infobox legislative election}} faces opposition on virtually all major election pages where it has been used. For the same reasons that have been cited by other users before, I will not support its use here. It is essentially a redundant template altogether, since an extremely similar layout is already used for the main results summary table in the middle of the article. Party colors and leader portraits are helpful for casual readers, and should be retained in the election infobox at the top of the article.

That being said, I believe we should stick with two infoboxes; the recent volatility of the Turkish system, and the fact that the transitional laws of the Turkish government have not all yet been passed, effectively mean that we could in the foreseeable future have pres. and parl. elections happen on separate dates. So there is little point in experimenting with merging the two infoboxes, since that could very well end up only applying to a single article or two. Going back to three-article solution

I believe the above dilemma can be resolved by going back to having three articles for this election cycle, namely 'Turkish parliamentary election, 2018', 'Turkish presidential election, 2018' and 'Turkish general election, 2018' This is exactly the same format used for the United States (for example, see United States elections, 2016. The 'Turkish general election, 2018' article, just like the format used for US elections, would essentially be a disambiguation article offering short explanations of who won each election and providing links to their respective article for further detail.

I only say this because even at the moment (literally one day since the election was announced), the article is already overcomplicated due to having to deal with two separate elections at once. Once the campaign is fully underway, it's going to get much worse and we're going to most likely have to separate them anyway. Nub Cake (talk) 21:02, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

I don't believe the "general election" article is needed following the split. It should probably just be redirected to the parliamentary election article. Number 57 03:08, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

I disagree. What happened in 2015 was two separate elections on separate dates. These two take place on the same day so it’s a general election more similar to the upcoming election in the United States. Charles Essie (talk) 21:22, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

Wouldn't it be useful to have a map indicating the (Results by majority of votes in each province (top) and district (bottom)), be made of the combined total of the Alliances that ran, 1. I second this. In canakkale, antalya and mersin, millet won more votes but akp won the most in terms of parties. This is an unfair representation. Maps should be by ittefak rather than by parti Masterpha (talk) 08:29, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

Merge with the page of Turkish presidential and parliamentary elections which held on 24 June 2018.
