Necessity of sortable
[edit]I wanted to see which teams have already played two matches. They're scattered around the table, so what I need is to sort the table by the matches column.
I couldn't find documentation for this, so I looked at the code of Module:Sports table. This didn't mention an option but did mention a bug, so I followed that. There I found discussion of a shortcoming of Template:Navbar. I raised a question on that template's Talk page to see if this could be fixed and a very helpful wikipedian (thanks Galobtter) pointed out that there was an undocumented option that could already do this. - The standard format for association football does not use sorting. Many leagues have cases where some teams will have played more matches than others, though sort is not used in these cases. We should format these tables consistently, consensus for change would be needed at WP:FOOTY. S.A. Julio (talk) 16:34, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
- The ICC is unlike most leagues because a team can have played all their matches before other teams have even played their first match. (I also don't see any reason there for not having all sports tables be sortable - all leagues have cases where some teams have played more matches than others - but that'd be for a separate thread.) In this case it's clearly useful. Great floors (talk) 16:44, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
- Just to clarify, it’s neither a league nor a tournament (even though they like to pretend it is the latter). It’s simply a collection of friendlies. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:48, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
- So, does that mean the table can be sortable? (Why does Module:Sports_table even have the option if we're not allowed use it?) Great floors (talk) 16:53, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
- Sports table cannot be sorted. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:56, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
- That's what I thought too! But it can: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2018_International_Champions_Cup&oldid=852522458#Table

Flag icons
[edit]Hi, I've been making minor changes on past ICC articles for some time now, and every top scorer has a flag icon except for Alexandre Lacazette in this year's edition, if S.A. Julio says the players aren't representing countries the please explain flag icons on UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League articles. Thanks. TheSoccerBoy (talk) 21:09, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
